Zamperla’s Air Race ride continues to enjoy huge success all over the world, with more than 18 examples now sold, including three of the latest model of the attraction since its introduction in December 2012, the Air Race 6.2, which is perfect for indoor operation. The original ‘theme’ for the ride created by our Art Department was inspired by the spectacular Air Race competitions which contributed so well to the eye-catching visual effects of the attraction. But very quickly the ride began to inspire art di-rectors at some of the biggest parks around the world. The first fully themed version of the ride to be developed by Zamperla was the Kung Fu Panda Air Race, which goes by the name of Pandemonium and is the highlight of the brand new Kung Fu Panda: Land of Awesomeness at Dream-world Australia. The ride features a new vehicle designed as a rickshaw and a majestic central column decorated as

a dragon. But the customisation of the attraction isn’t only to be found in the theming; two different ride programmes were created in order to provide two dif-ferent ride experiences. The most thrill-ing programme, called Seriously Crazy, gives mainstream thrill seekers the chal-lenge of 4G upside down, while the al-ternative, Not So Crazy, provides lighter thrills which will appeal to others. The second fully themed version of the Air Race opened in April in one of the oldest and most well-known parks in the world, Tivoli Copenhagen, in Denmark. This features eagle-themed rider vehi-cles with a large and elaborate central decoration … but that’s another story and all will be revealed in a future issue of Z News. (For those readers who can’t wait for more information, just put Aq-uila Tivoli in Google search and you’ll see more of this amazing ride).

2013 has already seen the opening of two fully themed versions

of the Air Race, the first of which was in Australia expansion.

Two of the most prestigious parks in China, Beijing OCT and Changzou Dinosaur Park, will open new indoor ven-ues in 2014 in order to enhance their offer with facilities that will enable them to provide entertainment on 365 days of the year, in all weather conditions.Naturally wanting to offer guests the best ride line-up possible, both parks have chosen a selection of the most popular Zamperla rides. Among these, the two parks will each install an Aero Top Jet, the classic plane ride that many of the world’s largest parks have bought from Zam-perla in the past, along with a Demolition Derby, another great classic ride.Additionally, OCT has chosen three other major rides for installation in what will be a fantastic thrill zone within its new area. These will be the Air Race 6.4 – the ride of the moment! –, a Disk’O 24, Zamperla’s bestseller, and a Midi Discovery. At the Dinosaur Park, the management have decided to create a family area which will include a Mini Jet 6, a Sombrerito, Bumper Cars and a Ferris Wheel, all from Zamperla. As well as choosing Zamperla for its popular rides, the two parks also selected us for our ability to develop superb custom themed attractions, as can be seen here in these pictures of past indoor projects that we have completed. All the rides for both projects will be heavily themed, the OCT attractions featuring a sea theme (the Air Race, for example, will incorporate a flying sharks decoration) and the Dinosaur Park rides having a futuristic theme.

News round-upWe are proud to announce the collaboration with Triotech on the Interactive Dark Ride (iDR), a media-based game play attraction that immerse player in a virtual world, while enjoying the real life thrills and speed of a ride vehicle crafted uniquely for the expe-rience. Offering a rich multi-dimensional experience, iDR will be different to more tradi-tional dark rides by emphasis-ing group game play. The iDR

offer has been designed to be enjoyed by different age groups, with a full family riding in one vehicle.

The most popular park in the Philippines recently chose one of Zamperla’s most well-known rides to help mark its 17th anni-versary. Last year Mario Mamon, who becomes chairman of IAAPA later this year, and his staff de-cided to add a Mega Disk’O 24 to their park’s ride line-up as something

of a ‘thank you’ to visitors after 17 years of success. As part of the decoration, the centre of the new attraction features Eldar, the park mascot, a friendly wizard who underlines the magical, fun experience provided by the Disk’O.

Something that has become a regular feature of the June issue of Z News each year is the lat-est news of the continued success of our Roller Coaster Department.

Year after year an increasing number of custom-ers ask us to develop custom designed coasters for them as they recognise the high level of ex-pertise on offer from our specialist coaster de-partment. Last year, for example, we announced the installation of a 710m long Mine Train in In-dia and a Gravity Moto Coaster with a 530m long track in China, pictures of which we are now able to provide. Both rides have enjoyed much suc-cess since opening and we are pleased to report that other coasters are due for installation in the near future, with orders for several more soon to be confirmed.

Among those due to open in the coming months, one or two are of particular interest. A Grav-ity Moto Coaster, featuring a 310m custom-de-signed layout, will open soon at Adventure Land Sharjah, in the UAE, while a custom-made Twist-er Coaster with a 350m long track will be part of

the brand new Mall of Istanbul, in Turkey.

Another custom coaster will be installed in 2014 in Xishuangbanna International Tourist Resort’s theme park in China, this being a Moto Coaster with two trains, each featuring 16 horse-themed vehicles, and a track length of 450m.

Our next newsletter will feature news of a number of standard coaster installations, including the Volare and Junior Twister coasters opening this summer at Flamingoland in the UK, while ad-ditional projects are also on the way with one of the largest players in the market and an other in one of the most iconic places for amusement rides … but that’s all we can say for the moment!
