Zoos Should ExistBy: Danny, Maddy, Ethan & Zoe
Opening wordsIn this presentation we will argue that zoos should exist because animals in zoos have a comfortable life. Also, Zoos should exist because zoos help the animals in need. In addition, zoos should exist because they provide education for people. We hope that you find our claims interesting.
Claim #1 : Zoos should exist because they help animals.
Evidence #1
Animals in zoos live longer.
They live longer because they always have food. Also, they don't have a lot of stress on them because they don't have other Animals trying to kill them. Source of information: Amanda Berlinski, Lincoln Park Zoo educator
Evidence #2In the Bavli, Gittin 62 page א it says “Thus said Rab Judah in the name of Rab It is forbidden to a man to taste anything until he has given food to his beast, as it says [first]. And I will give grass in thy field for thy cattle, and then, Thou shalt eat and be full”. This passage says that you should make sure animals are treated equal to humans. Just as we would like people to treat us good and help us, zoos help animals in a very nice and good way.
Evidence #3Zoos help to relocate animals whose habitats were chopped down or destroyed. In Psalms, 36:7 it says: “man and beast you shall save, O LORD”. This shows that the bible thinks we should save animals and the zoo is a good example of saving animals.
Counter argumentPeople say it is bad for animals to be in the zoo because they
are taking them out of there habitat. But sometimes it is better
because their habitat could be dangerous or bad for them to
live. Therefore Sometimes it is better for them to live in zoos.
Claim #2:
Zoos are good because they provide education
for people.
Evidence #1:In the zoos there are signs by the different habits that tell you
about the animals.
For example the signs tell you about what you are looking at,
what they eat, and how they interact with each
other.

Evidence #2We all learned something new while we were at the Lincoln Park Zoo. For example:
● Zookeepers don't let the animals breed unless they know there is enough space for the animal.
● Zookeepers don't let the animals only if the 2 breeders will do good together.
This means that they won't let animals exist unless they have a good place to live.
Continuing evidence #2
We also learned about how chimpanzees get their food and about how to transport the animals to get them to the zoo. Following is a video of chimpanzees eating at the zoo. They are eating just how they would eat in the wild with sticks and a log with termites in it.
Evidence #3:
People are exposed to different types of animals that they
wouldn’t be exposed to otherwise. For example, this
kangaroo is a native Australian animal that we wouldn’t be
able to see
unless we visited
Australia.
Another example is:
If zoos did not existed we
would not be
able to see a Red
Pandas because
they live in
the Himalayas.
Evidence #4:Zoos give everyday normal people opportunity to learn about
the animals by interacting with the animals first hand. For
example feeding the giraffes.
Claim #3: Zoos should exist because animals have a
comfortable life in the zoo.
Evidence #1:
The zoo keepers clean howdy y'all
the animals’
habitats every day
so the animals don’t
have a dirty home.

Evidence #2:
Zoos are always upgrading their cages and making sure that
the animals have a great place to live.
These are the San Diego zoos habitats.
Evidence #3:Zookeepers give the animals top notch food. They change up
the food everyday so they won't have the same food every
day. Source of information: Amanda Berlinski , Lincoln Park
Zoo educator.

Closing words
Zoos should exist because they help animals and Zoos are good because they provide education for people also Zoos should exist because animals have a comfortable life in the zoo. These are just a few ways why zoos should exist.
