beautiful golden eyesif you want eyes that stand out at the party go for an exiting golden look

step 4. brows and the final touchTo create a balance in your look, pencil in your eyebrows. Choose an eyebrow pencil in the same colour as your brow or a tint darker, and fill out the 'holes' in the brow with light strokes. Complete your party make-up with a brownish rouge under the cheekbones and a golden lip gloss on the lips – voila!

step 1. eye shadowPut a golden eye shadow on the eye-lid all the way up to the brow with a thick brush. Continue with a bronze-coloured eye shadow on the lower and middle eyelid, as well as the lower part of your eye lashes to get a soft smokey-eye effect.

step 3. mascaraThe golden rule: The more the merrier. Apply the mascara a bit at the time in several thin layers, and use zigzag motions to reach the small hairs. Remember to use an eyelash curler if your eye lashes

aren't naturally curvy. Does the mascara clot? Save your lashes with a clean mascara brush.

step 2. eyelinerApply the liquid eyeliner from the inner corner of your eye to the outer by following the curve of the eye. Make it easier by dividing the appli-cation. Begin at the middle and work your way to the outer corner - then do the same from the inner corner to the middle of your eye. Create an intense finish with a soft eyeliner inside the lower eyelid.

Welcome to the party

Step 1 - The welcomeZiZZi party guide

The Perfect PartyZiZZi party guide

'Your guests should have a glass of champagne in their hand 30 seconds after they enter your home!' these are words of chef Jamie Oliver, and that’s not bad advice. a glass in the hand keeps your guests occupied, and even more important: it gives them something to talk about. a good glass of bubbles also has a way of get-ting people to talk. Snacks have somewhat the same effect. Besides being a little cheeky serving your guests champagne or other alcoholic drinks without some sort of food, it also gives your guests something to do – and if your snacks are surprising in some way it also gives them something to talk about. and that’s what it is all about, getting people to talk and having fun! Get a party ambassadoryou are in the kitchen. your guests will arrive in 15 minutes. the champagne is yet to se opened and served. the table is set, you are about to arrange the starter, and

then the doorbell rings! the fist half hour of the party is always the hardest, because it is where you are the busiest and where your guests should start talking among themselves. a party ambassador is a good way to start off your party successfully. ask a good fri-

end to arrive an hour earlier. that way you make sure that no one gets to be the first guest alone with the snacks and cham-pagne. if you are extra sneaky (and busy in the kitchen) get her to open the door for your guests and serve them champagne and snacks.

rememBer! SnackS ShOuld Be:• Finger food - nothing

greasy that sticks to the fingers

• Nothing drippy. Avoid dressings that can spill onto the dress

• Light , not overloaded - do not spoil your guests' appetite with huge, heavy portions

1. the fancy: Buy sushi before the party. Choose the small sushi rolls with sal-mon, cucumber, avocado - remember to have both fish and vegetable. Sushi is easy to eat and looks good on the plate.

SnackS for the bubbleS2. the quick: Chips and bubbles goes well together but choose the classic potatochips with salt and avoid sour cream, barbeque and the like. Those tastes will destroy the fine taste of the champagne, cremant and cava.

3. the advanced: Classic canapés are pretty and easy to eat. Do it the easy way and buy small pieces of toasted bread and add a good paté or something similar, and decorate with thyme or other herbs that go well with your choice of topping. Remember to make plenty - they will quickly disappear!

three nicebubbleSCrémant

Other places in France, where sparkling wines are made in the same way as the champagne, it is called Cré-mant. Crémant

is especially known in the Alsace area in France.

pros: Good Crémants can be a good and lower priced alternative to champagne.

CavaIn the 1500, the young wine grower Miquel Raventós was obsessed with the thought of making a Spa-nish alternative

to the champagne, and he succeeded, even though the cava does not taste like cham-pagne. It wasn’t until 1970 that the Spa-niards accepted the French demand that they could not name their wine champagne. By the way, cava means wine cellar in Catalan.

ChampagneSparkling wine from the French area of cham-pagne, which houses around 15,000 viney-ards. At any time of the

year, one billion bottles are in the process of being produced.

pros: Champagne tastes great and will no doubt impress your guests. But remember, you pay a lot for the label.

use a simple piece of flax as tablecloth. it is both romantic and

resistant.

CandLeSCandlelights are cosy and create a nice atmosphere. Put some candle-sticks on the table, preferable old, beautiful and decorative ones. Be care-ful with tall candles in tall sticks as they can block the view for your guest, and if you open the windows during the evening they will imme-diately start to drip. Instead, use beautiful square candles, and tie a mathing ribbon around it. A water bowl with floating, coloured tealight candles is also a nice touch.

table set yourself

Step 2 - Set the tableZiZZi party guide

A festive table gives your guest a feeling of excess energy and a cosy atmosphere, but be careful of the sneaky pitfalls that exist in the art of setting a table. this is what to do - and what NOt to do By Morten Steiniche and Lars Andresen

Candles with romantic ribbons. Beautiful bowl with water and roses. dimmed lighting and quiet jazz.

it is easy to picture the festive and beautiful

table right before the party, but how do you cre-ate a table that is both impressive and enchanting, as well as suitable for big dishes, and where the guests can actually see each other?

ServingS on plateS or diSheS?The classic mistake is to set a beau-tiful table... only to find there's no room for the dishes. If you choose to use dishes, then set the table with the dishes. That way you make sure there's room for the food.

If you are going for the lavish table decoration it is a good idea to serve your food on plates - or to make sure you have a small side table for your dishes.

CheCk the taBle Before your gueStS arrive. When your table is set, walk around the table to make sure that your guests will be able to see each other. It is a common mistake to put a vase, a candlestick or something else blocking the view. Go for the lower decorations and candles.

prActicAl tips ANd tricks

seAtiNg ArrANgeMeNt Or NOt?A seating arrangement is normally used at big and formal festivities such as weddings, where family and fri-ends are mixed together, but a more informal dinner with friends might also include a seating arrangement.

Pros: As the host, you know your guests; those who like each other and those who might not be the best of friends. With a seating arrange-ment you can avoid the sometimes awkward situation where the guests have to sit down - and you can be absolutely sure that your three noisy friends who always get drunk not are seated next to each other again. Cons: It might be a little intimida-ting for the guest not to be able to decide where to sit.

Coloured glaSSWith a small pencil and white acrylic paint you'll be able to transform your glass into little pieces of art. Make your own patterns on the glass - and the best part: the paint can be was-hed off. If you want permanent colouring use glass paint.

pretty and eaSy napkinSUse a somwhat creased napkin and roll it. Tie a rustic and rough string around it. There are many ways to decorate the napkin. A nice twig of rosemary is easy to come by in the super markets og your guests can use it as a condement for their food. Rosemary can last for hours. You can also tie a name tag to the napkin - try with a metal plate, it creates a rough look!

Step 3 - The menuZiZZi party guide

the good parties have it all: delicious drinks, great food and music you can dance to. Here are a couple of tips to create a menu that will spoil your guests and keep the party going By Pernille Kleding

A party marches on its stomach. OK, that might be a slight rewrite of the old saying, but the thought is not far fetched. the food is the highlight of the party. your guests are looking forward to see and taste the evening’s dishes, to compliment the chef (you!), and to be spoiled for an evening. if you want the night to end on the dance floor, you must incorporate the dance into your menu. Or rather: avoid heavy food and wine that will make you guests bloated. instead go for ligh-ter dishes that will tickle the senses.

Small dishes are a hitif you are having a party with many guests, many small dishes are a safe bet – for you and your guests. Many of the dishes can be made in advance and you do not need to use a lot of time in the kitchen once your guests have a arrived. Moreover, your guests will love the freedom to choose bet-

ween the delicious foods. When you pre-pare the food, choose a few, but delicious dishes. and think out of the box - the food should be surprising and create a special feeling for the party.

try a theme - it can be italian specialties, indian food or asian with chicken skewers, marinated prawns and delicious eggrolls.

if the party is somewhat smaller it is cosier to sit around the table with portion sized dis-hes. the dinner might last for hours, while the guests eat, talk, toast, eat, talk, toast.

instead of the classic three course meal - starter, main and dessert - try sneaking in an extra two of four courses. this of course means that the portions have to be smaller (and preferably served in portions). if you do not want to spend the entire evening in the kitchen it is important to make the food up front so you only have to heat and serve. the many small dishes will make the

dinner a small gastronomic trip, and because the portions are smaller and the dinner last for several hours none of your guests will be too full for colourful drinks and dance after-wards.

tarte au Citron The French version of lemon pie with Italian meringue. The taste is sweet, sour and completely divine. Make it yourself:

pastry250 g flour, 170 g butter, 60-70 g icing sugar, 2 tsp. vanilla sugar, 1 small egg, a pinch of salt Crumple the butter in the flour with icing sugar, vanilla sugar and salt. Add the egg, and gather the dough quickly (don't knead). Let the dough rest for an hour in the fridge. Put the dough in a buttered pie bowl, and bake it 'blind' (meaning that you cover the dough with baking paper and put a lid or something similar over the bowl so the dough won't raise during baking) at 220 degrees Celsius for about 15 minutes. Remove lid and paper, and bake the pie for another five minutes.

Pour the custard into the piecrust, and bake it a 150 degree Celsius for about 30 minutes, or until the custard has set. Let pie cool off.
