Summer Faith Formation

Ok, I realize we had a pretty hard winter, but the temperatures are finally rising, and the sun is out a little each day, and sometimes all day. The crab apple trees are in bloom and flowers are showing up on decks and in yards. Summer is getting closer. I’ve even noticed a couple of people with rather red noses and arms.

Granted, we take a break from a lot of organized activities in the summer, or maybe we just switch which activities we participate in. Summer is a wonderful time to continue our faith formation. Most children, teens, and even adults, like to spend time outside during the summer months. So let’s start with a prayer:

A Prayer for Outdoor Formation God of All Creation, open our eyes to your wonders around us. Help us to embrace a bit of mess, that we might lead children to the beauty, peace, and joy that exist in your amazing world. Amen Get out there and discover God’s creation. A magnifying glass is a very popular tool for examining God's handiwork. What a different view of the world we get when we look closely at the cracks in the sidewalk, under leaves, and on a tree trunk. Consider providing pa-per and crayons to record discoveries. Do photo scavenger hunts for different items in nature. Taking a picture does not disturb God’s creation, but still allows for fun find-ing items. While driving, list an item for every letter of the alphabet that you spot in God’s creation. One rule we had when I was a kid, was that we could only look out our own side window. I’m sure you can come up with more, but why not give it a try? Make faith formation a part of everything you do. Have a great summer!

By supporting our Scrip Fundraising Program, you are supporting our incredible young adults. We have young people who are pas-sionate about their faith. Scrip raises money that gives them op-portunities to learn and grow in their faith and in their relation-ships with peers and adults. Funds raised through our Scrip pro-gram go towards mission trips, ELCA national and synod youth gatherings, adventure trips, and service opportunities.

Attention Zion Members Come share your love for Christ by volunteering dur-ing the worship service.
