About the ziyrah form dedicated to Imam Muammad al-Jawd (`a), the three master scholars (Shaykh al-Mufd, al-Shahd, and Muammad ibn al-Mashhad) have said the following:

You may then direct to the tomb of Ab-Ja`far Muammad ibn `Al al-Jawd (`a) whose tomb is in the back of the tomb of his grandfather (i.e. Imam al-Kim). When you stop near the tomb, you may say the following words:

alssalmu `alayka y waliyya allhi Peace be upon you, O intimate servant of Allah. alssalmu `alayka y ujjata allhi Peace be upon you, O Allahs argument.

alssalmu `alayka y nra allhi f ulumti al-ari

Peace be upon you, O Allahs light in the darkness of the earth.

alssalmu `alayka yabna rasli allhi Peace be upon you, O son of Allahs Messenger. alssalmu `alayka wa `al b'ika Peace be upon you and upon your fathers.

alssalmu `alayka wa `al abn'ika Peace be upon you and upon your descendants. alssalmu `alayka wa `al awliy'ika Peace be upon you and upon your loyalists.

ashhadu annaka qad aqamta alalta I bear witness that you performed the prayers, wa tayta alzzakta defrayed the poor-rate,

wa amarta bilma`rfi enjoined the right, wa nahayta `an almunkari forbade the wrong,

wa talawta alkitba aqqa tilwatih recited the Book as it should be recited, wa jhadta f allhi aqqa jihdih strove for Allah as exactly as striving should be, wa abarta `al al-adh f janbih and endured harm for His sake

att atka alyaqnu until death came upon you. ataytuka z'iran I have come to you, visiting you,

`rifan biaqqika recognizing your right, muwliyan li'awliy'ika declaring loyalty to your loyalists, mu`diyan lia`d'ika and incurring the animosity of your enemies;

fashfa` l `inda rabbika so, (please) intercede for me with Your Lord. You may then kiss the tomb and put your both cheeks on it. You may then offer the two-unit prayer of ziyrah after

which you may offer any other prayers. You may then prostrate yourself and say the following words:

iram man as'a waqatarafa (Please) have mercy upon him who had misbehaved and committed sins,

wastakna wa`tarafa but he then submitted and confessed. You may then place your right cheek on the ground and say the following words:

in kuntu bi'sa al`abdu If I am the worst servant (of You), fa'anta ni`ma alrrabbu then You are the All-excellent Lord.

You may then place your left cheek on the ground and say the following words:

`auma aldhdhanbu min `abdika Your servants sin has been very flagrant, falyasun al`afwu min `indika then let Your pardon be very excellent.

y karmu O All-generous! You may then return to the position of prostration and repeat the following word one hundred times:

shukran Thanks. Another Form of Ziyrah of Imam al-Jawd

In his book of al-Mazr, Sayyid Ibn ws says:After you visit Imam Ms al-Kim (`a), you may stop at the tomb of Imam al-Jawd (`a), kiss it, and say the following words:

alssalmu `alayka y ab ja`farin Peace be upon you, O Ab-Ja`far muammadu bna `aliyyin Muammad the son of `Al,

albarru alttaqiyyu the righteous, pious, al-immu alwafiyyu and faithful leader.

alssalmu `alayka ayyuh alrraiyyu alzzakiyyu Peace be upon you, O pleased and pure. alssalmu `alayka y waliyya allhi Peace be upon you, O Allahs intimate servant.

alssalmu `alayka y najiyya allhi Peace be upon you, O confidentially talked by Allah.

alssalmu `alayka y safra allhi Peace be upon you, O Allahs emissary. alssalmu `alayka y sirra allhi Peace be upon you, O Allahs secret.

alssalmu `alayka y iy'a allhi Peace be upon you, O Allahs brightness. alssalmu `alayka y san'a allhi Peace be upon you, O Allahs brilliance. alssalmu `alayka y kalimata allhi Peace be upon you, O Allahs Word.

alssalmu `alayka y ramata allhi Peace be upon you, O Allahs mercy. alssalmu `alayka ayyuh alnnru alssi`u Peace be upon you, O shining light. alssalmu `alayka ayyuh albadru alli`u Peace be upon you, O rising full moon. alssalmu `alayka ayyuh alayyibu min alayyibna

Peace be upon you, O pure who is the descendant of the pure ones.

alssalmu `alayka ayyuh alhiru min almuahharna Peace be upon you, O immaculate who is the

descendant of the the immaculate ones.

alssalmu `alayka ayyuh al-yatu al`um Peace be upon you, O greatest sign. alssalmu `alayka ayyuh alujjatu alkubr Peace be upon you, O grandest argument. alssalmu `alayka ayyuh almuahharu min alzzallti Peace be upon you, O purified from slips. alssalmu `alayka ayyuh almunazzahu `an almu`ilti

Peace be upon you, O deemed above unforgivable failings.

alssalmu `alayka ayyuh al`aliyyu `an naqi al-awfi Peace be upon you, O raised high against imperfect traits.

alssalmu `alayka ayyuh alrraiyyu `inda al-ashrfi Peace be upon you, O pleased in the sight of the honorable ones.

alssalmu `alayka y `amda alddni Peace be upon you, O pillar of the religion. ashhadu annaka waliyyu allhi wa ujjatuh f arih

I bear witness that you are the intimate servant of Allah,

wa annaka janbu allhi the argument of Him in His lands, wa khiyaratu allhi the side of Allah, the best in the view of Allah,

wa mustawda`u `ilmi allhi wa `ilmi al-anbiy'i the store of the knowledge of Allah and the knowledge of the Prophets,

wa ruknu al-mni wa tarjumnu alqur'ni the cornerstone of faith, and the interpreter of the Qur'n.

wa ashhadu anna man ittaba`aka `al alaqqi walhud I also bear witness that whoever follows you has been on the right and true guidance

wa anna man ankaraka wa naaba laka al`adwata but whoever denies you and incurs your animosity `al alallati walrrad has been on deviation and perdition.

abra'u il allhi wa ilayka minhum f aldduny wal-khirati I repudiate these in the presence of Allah and you in this world and in the Hereafter.

wa alssalmu `alayka m baqtu wa baqiya allaylu walnnahru Peace be upon you as long as I am existent and as long as there are day and night.

Invocation of Blessings upon Imam al-Jawd

Invoking Almighty Allahs blessings on Imam al-Jawd (`a), you may say the following words:

allhumma alli `al muammadin wa ahli baytih O Allah, (please) send blessings upon Muammad and his Household,

wa alli `al muammadi bni `aliyyin send blessings upon Muammad the son of `Al, alzzakiyyi alttaqiyyi the pure, the pious, walbarri alwafiyyi the righteous, the faithful, walmuhadhdhabi alnnaqiyyi the refined, the bright,

hd al-ummati the guide of the nation, wa writhi al-a'immati the inheritor of the Imams, wa khzini alrramati the hoarder of mercy, wa yanb`i alikmati the spring of wisdom,

wa q'idi albarakati the leader of blessing, wa `adli alqur'ni f al`ati the match of the Qur'n in obedience,

wa widi al-awiy'i f al-ikhli wal`ibdati the distinctive among the Successors in sincerity and worship,

wa ujjatika al`uly Your premier argument, wa mathalika al-a`l Your highest example,

wa kalimatika alusn Your most excellent Word, aldd` ilayka the caller to You, walddlli `alayka and the director towards You, alladh naabtah `alaman li`ibdika whom You have appointed as signpost for Your servants,

wa mutarjiman likitbika interpreter of Your Book, wa di`an bi'amrika expounder of Your commands,

wa niran lidnika supporter of Your religion, wa ujjatan `al khalqika argument against Your creatures,

wa nran takhruqu bih alulama radiance through whom darkness is penetrated, wa qudwatan tudraku bih alhidyatu excellent example through whom true guidance is hit, wa shaf`an tunlu bih aljannatu and intercessor through whom Paradise is won.

allhumma wa kam akhadha f khush`ih laka aah O Allah, just as he took his share of reverence for You wastawf min khashyatika nabah and received completely his portion of fear of You,

faalli `alayhi a`fa m allayta `al waliyyin so (please) bless him with many folds of blessings that You have ever poured down on an intimate servant of You

irtaayta `atah whose obedience to You has been approved of by You wa qabilta khidmatah and whose servitude has been admitted by You.

wa ballighhu minn taiyyatan wa salman Convey to him greetings and salutations from us, wa tin f muwltih min ladunka falan wa isnan

and give us - from You on account of our loyalty to him - favors, kindness,

wa maghfiratan wa riwnan forgiveness, and pleasure. innaka dhlmanni alqadmi You are verily the Lord of eternal favoring

walafi aljamli and nice pardoning. You may then offer the two-unit prayer of ziyrah. After accomplishment, you may say the supplication, which begins

with this statement:

allhumma anta alrrabbu wa an almarbbu

O Allah, You are the Sustainer and I am the sustained

You may then pray Almighty Allah for your personal requests and they shall be granted, Allah willing.

Another Form of Ziyrah of Imam al-Jawd

In man-l-yauruhul-faqh, Shaykh al-adq has reported the following:

When you intend to visit Imam al-Jawd (`a), you may bathe yourself and put on two clean (and ceremonially pure) pieces of clothes. You may then say the following words:

allhumma alli `al muammadi abni `aliyyin O Allah, (please) send blessings upon Muammad the son of `Al, al-immi alttaqiyyi alnnaqiyyi the pious, bright, alrraiyyi almariyyi pleasing, and pleased Imam

wa ujjatika `al man fawqa al-ari and Your argument against all those who are on the earth wa man tata alththar and those who are beneath the ground altan kathratan with such blessings that are plentiful,

nmiyatan zkiyatan mubrakatan ever-increasing, pure, blessed, mutawilatan mutardifatan mutawtiratan continuous, consecutive, and uninterrupted

ka'afali m allayta `al aadin min awliy'ika and with the most excellent blessings that You have ever conferred upon any of Your intimate servants.

wa alssalmu `alayka y waliyya allhi And peace be upon you, O Allahs most intimate servant. alssalmu `alayka y nra allhi Peace be upon you, O Allahs brightness.

alssalmu `alayka y ujjata allhi Peace be upon you, O Allahs argument. alssalmu `alayka y imma almu'minna Peace be upon you, O leader of the believers,

wa writha `ilmi alnnabiyyna inheritor of the knowledge of the Prophets, wa sullata alwaiyyna and descendant of the Prophets successors.

alssalmu `alayka y nra allhi f ulumti al-ari

Peace be upon you, O Allahs light in the darkness of the earth.

ataytuka z'iran I have come to you, visiting you, `rifan biaqqika recognizing your right,

mu`diyan li'a`d'ika incurring the animosity of your enemies, muwliyan li'awliy'ika and showing loyalty to your loyalists.

fashfa` l `inda rabbika So, (please) intercede for me with your Lord.

Another form of Ziyrah of Imam al-Jawd Baqiyatus salehat

alssalmu `al albbi al-aqadi Peace be upon the most straight door (to true guidance), walarqi al-arshadi the most upright path,

wal`limi almu'ayyadi the Divinely supported knower, yunb`i alikami the spring of wisdoms, wa mibi alulami the lantern in darkness,

sayyidi al`arabi wal`ajami the chief of Arabs and non-Arabs, alhd il alrrashdi the guide to orthodoxy,

almuwaffaqi biltta'ydi walssaddi and the granted success by means of support and leading to trueness; mawlya ab ja`farin my master Ab-Ja`far

muammadi bni `aliyyin aljawdi Muammad the son of `Al the Magnanimous. ashhadu y waliyya allhi I bear witness that you are the intimate servant of Allah; annaka aqamta alalta you performed the prayers,

wa tayta alzzakta defrayed the poor-rate, wa amarta bilma`rfi enjoined the right,

wa nahayta `an almunkari forbade the wrong, wa jhadta f sabli allhi aqqa jihdih strove in the way of Allah as exactly as strife should be,

wa `abadta allha mukhlian att atka alyaqnu and served Allah sincerely until death came upon you. fa`ishta sa`dan So, you lived happily wa maayta shahadan and passed away as martyr.

y laytan kuntu ma`akum Would that I were with you, fa'afza fawzan `aman then should I achieve a great success.

wa ramatu allhi wa baraktuh Allahs mercy and blessings be upon you. You may then kiss the blessed soil (of the tomb) and place your right cheek on it. You may then offer the two-unit prayer of ziyrah after which you may pray Almighty Allah for any thing you want.

SUPPLICATION AFTER THE PRAYER FOLLOWING ZIYRAH OF IMAM AL-JAWD

This supplication is said after the ziyarah form at the holy tomb of Imam Muammad al-Jawd (`a):

allhumma anta alrrabbu wa an almarbbu O Allah, You are the Sustainer and I am the sustained. wa anta alkhliqu wa an almakhlqu You are the Creator and I am the created. wa anta almliku wa an almamlku You are the Owner and I am the owned. wa anta almu` wa an alss'ilu You are the Granter and I am the beggar. wa anta alrrziqu wa an almarzqu

You are the Provider with sustenance and I am the receiver of sustenance.

wa anta alqdiru wa an al`jizu You are the All-powerful and I am the powerless. wa anta alqawiyyu wa an ala`fu You are the All-forceful and I am the weak. wa anta almughhu wa an almustaghhu You are the Aide and I am the seeker of aid. wa anta aldd'imu wa an alzz'ilu You are the Everlasting and I am destined to die. wa anta alkabru wa an alaqru You are the Significant and I am the trivial. wa anta al`amu wa an alaghru You are the Great and I am the tiny. wa anta almawl wa an al`abdu You are the Lord and I am the slave.

wa anta al`azzu wa an aldhdhallu You are the Almighty and I am the humble. wa anta alrraf`u wa an alwa`u You are the Elevated and I am the meek. wa anta almudabbiru wa an almudabbaru You are the Manager and I am managed. wa anta albq wa an alfn You are the Eternal and I am mortal. wa anta alddayynu wa an almudnu You are the Judge and I am judged. wa anta alb`ihu wa an almab`hu You are the Resurrector and I am resurrected. wa anta alghaniyyu wa an alfaqru You are the Rich and I am the poor. wa anta alayyu wa an almayyitu You are the Ever-living and I am subjected to death.

tajidu man tu`adhdhibu y rabbi ghayr You, O my Lord, can find someone to torment other than me wa l ajidu man yaramun ghayruka but I cannot find anyone to have mercy on me other than You.

allhumma alli `al muammadin wa li muammadin O Allah, (please) send blessings upon Muammad and the Household of Muammad,

wa qarrib farajahum hasten their Relief, waram dhull bayna yadayka and have mercy on my humiliation before You,

wa taarru` ilayka my imploration to You, wa washat min alnnsi my disassociation from people,

wa uns bika y karmu and my entertainment with You, O All-generous. humma taaddaq `alayya f hdhih alss`ati Then, (please) endue me at this very hour

biramatin min `indika tuhaddi'u bih qalb with mercy from You by which You tranquilize my heart, wa tajma`u bih amr bring together my affairs,

wa talummu bih sha`ah reunite my scattering, wa tubayyiu bih wajh whiten my face, wa tukrimu bih maqm confer honor on my status,

wa tauu bih `ann wizr relieve me from my burdens, wa taghfiru bih m ma min dhunb forgive my past sins,

wa ta`imun f m baqiya min `umr protect me against sinning in the rest of my lifetime, wa tasta`milun f dhlika kullih employ me in my entire lifetime

bi`atika wa m yurka `ann in acts of obedience to You and acts that bring about Your pleasure,

wa takhtimu `amal bi'asanih seal my deeds with the best of them, wa taj`alu l hawbah aljannata decide Paradise to be my reward for that,

wa tasluku b sabla allina lead me to the path of the righteous, wa tu`nun `al lii m a`aytan help me do well with the virtuous of what You have given me

kam a`anta allina `al lii m a`aytahum

in the same way as You have helped the righteous ones do well with what You have given them,

wa l tanza` minn lian a`aytinhi abadan never deprive me of any virtuous thing that You have given me,

wa l taruddan f s'in istanqadhtan minhu abadan

never send me back to a wicked matter from which You have saved me,

wa l tushmit b `aduwwan wa l sidan abadan never make my enemy or one who envies me gloat at my misfortune, wa l takiln il nafs arfata `aynin abadan

and never leave me alone with my own affairs even for a winking of an eye

wa l aqalla min dhlika wa l akhara or less or more than that. y rabba al`lamna O Lord of the worlds!

allhumma alli `al muammadin wa li muammadin O Allah, (please) send blessings upon Muammad and the Household of Muammad,

wa arin alaqqa aqqan fa'attabi`ah show the right as it is in reality so that I will follow it walbila bilan fa'ajtanibah and the wrong as it is in reality so that I will shun it,

wa l taj`alhu `alayya mutashbihan never confuse the right and the wrong for me; fa'attabi`a hawya bighayri hudan minka

lest I will follow my own desires without finding true guidance from You.

waj`al hawya taba`an li`atika And (please) cause all my desires to follow the obedience to You, wa khudh ri nafsika min nafs take the pleasure of You from the pleasure of myself,

wahdin lim ikhtulifa fhi min alaqqi bi'idhnika

and guide me to the right about which disagreement has taken place by permission of You;

innaka tahd man tash'u il irin mustaqmin

verily, You guide whomever You wish to a straight path.
