ZEISS IKON ciuneras are famous the world over, driefly for their outstanding lenses. TheNOVAR with an aperture of f16.3, f/4.5 or f/3.5 produces ecxellent black-and-white and colourpictures. The ZEISS TESSAR is often described as the "eagle eye" of any camera; its needlesharp deftnition has been proverbial for half a century. All lenses are coated and colour corrected. The choice of the shutter depends very much on the type of subject you wish to take. A sportsshot, for example, will require 4 faster speed than a lindscape. The foilowing shutters are iuiltinto ZEISS IKON cameras:

The BOX TENGOR is the ideal camera for a beginner.Even a drild can use it. Its indestructible light-metal bodywill stand more than an occasionai knod<.
Important BOX TENGOR features for the beginner arethe double exposure lock, the safety catdl against acci-dental release and the warning signal to prevent unex-posed shots. However careless you may be, you justcouldn't take that lovely view in front if you mixed upwith the trellis fence of the previous shot.

The BOX TENGOR has a colour-corrected and coated Frontarf/9 lens. This is fast enough for colour photography if the lightis good. Everything more than 9 yards away will be sharp. Butif you lvant to take groups from 2rlt to 9 yards, or portraitsfrom I to 2 yards, a lever brings built-in close-up lenses intouse. A second lever operates the lens stops. The shutter permits instantaneous and time exposures. It hasflash contacts built-in. Thus even flash shots are easy with theBOX TENGOR.
A cable release sod<et, upright and horizontal ffnders, a tripodbush and, if desired, a yellow push-on filter complete the equip-ment of this popular and efftcient camera, whictr with its lowpnce is within everybody's readr.

NETTARThe NEfiAR is the ideal camera for week-end trips and holi-
days.It folds up and is easilycarried in a rud<sad< orcoatpodcetwhilst hiking, climbing or ski-ing. The lens and shutter are pro-tected all the time. You just press a button and the camera isready to shoot. Sight the subject through the large bright opticalftnder, press the convenient body-release, and a live picture iscaptured for ever.
The NETTAR is so popular because of its tedrnical features. The efftcient NOVAR lenses are equally good for blad<-and-white and colour. A depth-of-fteld indicator, flash contacts(speed syndrronised on some of the models), a tripod bush, anaccessory shoe and a cable release sod<et further extend thescope. The metal parts of the smart body are drromium plated.Like all ZEISS IKON cameras the NETTAR has convenientred-dot settings. If distance and aperture are set to the red dotsthen everything over 12 ft away will be sharp. This allows suf-ficient depth for any unexpected subject that may come your
way. You can also close the NETTAR in this position and you
thus have an ideal snapshot camera.
The SIGNAL NETTAR has been designed for thosewho want a really foolproof camera. It has a double-exposure lo& and a transport signal whidr warns yorrwhile the ftlm is still un-exposed.Different NETTAR and SICNAL NETTAR modelsare available for 2Llrx2rlqin. or 2rlax31/a in. pic-tures. If you are after a camera in this price range, you are sure to ftnd a NETTAR to suit you.

I KO NTA M AND I KoNTAEven a ZE I S S lens cannot produce a sharp picture if it's notfocused right. You steer clear of that problem with theIKONTA M whidr has a built-in rangeftnder. The distanceis guickly measured by turning a handy knob. You can makethe most of your lens speed, there is no need"to stop downfor safety. The subject stands out clearly against the blurredbadcground so that the pictures really gain in depth. The
rangeftnder and viewftnder have separate eyepieces to makethe image in the rangeftnder as large as possible. This makesfor greater accuracy in measuring. The IKONTA M is specially suitable for colour photo-graphy. Despite the larger aperture needed for the slowcolour ftlm, you always get pin-sharp pictures. The range-ftnder looks after your focusing problems, while the colourcorrected lenses ensure correct colour rendering..A ftlm in-dicator shows the negative material loaded in the camera. If you are after the higher lens quality you can also get theIKONTA M with the world famous ZEISS TESSAR. Apartfrom that the tedrnical equipment of the IKONTA M is sirni-lar to that of the SIGNAL NETTAR: it has an optical ftnder, spring opening medranism, double-exposure lod<, body re-
lease, red-dot setting, depth-of-fteld scale, tripod bush andcable release sodcet. The shutters are speed synchronised. All Prontor-SV models and all 2rlex 31/e in. (6x 9 cm.)cameras are equipped with a delayed action release.

SLJPE R IKONTAThese roll-ftlm cameras are in a class of their own. They havetedrnical features whidr are usually found only on precisionminiature cameras. The latest and ftnest in this range is theSUPER IKONTA III. It has a coupled rangeffnder. You justrotate a ring to make the rangeffnder images to coincide; thisautomatically focuses the lens. The SUPER IKONTA wasdesigned to be instantly ready for action. The rangeftnder andviewftnder are therefore combined in one eyepiece. Obviouslythe camera has a self-erecting baseboard, red-dot zone focussettings, etc. The fflm transport is noteworth/: 1lou just turnthe fflm winding knob as far as it will go. The ftlm for the nextexposure is then automatically in position. This works evenfor the first exposure so that the red window is unnecessary. In its place the camera is fftted with an automatic counter andan indicator showing whether the camera has been loadedor not.If you want large aperture lenses, dloose the SUPER IKONTA I.This is similar to the SUPER IKONTA III but is fttted withthe exceptionally fast ZEISS TESSAR f/2.8lens.The SUPER IKONTA II is the crowning adrievement of allroll-fflm cameras. It has a highly sensitive photo-electric expo-sure meter built-in to eliminate all possible exposure errors. Itis the ideal camera for the colour photggrapher. The SUPER IKONTA is available as a lslnx2r I qin.(4.5x5cm.)model, and also as a two size camera taking 2t/+x?rlcin.(6x9 cm.) or l$lEx2Llcin. (4.5x6 cm.) pictures. These modelsalso have a coupled rangeffnder. The van Albada type view-finder shows the picture outlined by a bright frame within alarger fteld of view. IKOFLEXLook into the focusing screen of the IKOFLEX
and you will realise the advantage of this type
of camera. It shows you before you expose
exactly how the subject will look. The image
appears the same size as it will in the picture.
It is brilliantly illuminated right to the edges.
The IKOFLEX has a light-collecting Fresnel
3;;l
place of the ordinary ground glass
The large handy focusing knob sets the lens to
the right distance and also incorporates a depth
of field scale. You will be agreeably surprised at
the outstandirrg clearness of the irnage and you
can continuously drecJ< the sharpness. The fold-
ing focusing magnifier is particularly valuable
for close-ups.
A safety catcfi on the body release prevents ac-
ciderrtal exposures. The camera also has a
double exposure lock, a ftlm transport stop, and
a film counter. In the IKOFLEX Il, the fi lm
transport and shutter rvind are coupled for
speedier operation. All settings can be read from
above. Both models are speed syndrronised and
the range of lenses available irrcludes the ZEISS
TESSAR 03.5.Theyare all ideal for both black-

@ CoNTINAA man of action will always droose the CONTINA. This handy
miniature camera can be carried everywhere. The negative mate-
rial is so dreap that you can afford to take several shots of any
subject. The short focal length of the wide-aperture lenses provides
great depth of fteld. \'fith the red-dot zone setting, for example, everything over 8 feet from the camera will be sharp.
All settings on the CONTINA can be read from'above, including
the depth of fteld scale. The camera has an automatic ftlm trans-
port, double exposure lock, frame counter, ftlm indicator, in short
all the features you would look for in a modern miniature camera.
The ingenious winding lever on the bottom m4kes for rapid ftlm
transport. The CONTINA II also has a rangeftnder. This showsexactly how far the subject is from the camera and ensures ac-
curate focusing even at the' full aperture of the N O VA R or
TESSAR lenses. This is specially important in colour photo-
graphy.

Nearly every photographer would like to be able to cover all
ftelds, to be master of any situation with a single camera.
That is the secret of the world-wide popularity of the leading
ZEISS IKON product, the famous CONTAX. This per-
fected miniature camera can tackle any job. Its ultra-fast
f I 1 .5 lens will take instantaneous shots in the poorest l ight,
while the top shutter speed of rlnso second will capture the
fastest sports subject. Its scope extends from telephoto and
wide angle shots with the world famous ZEISS lenses to the
scientiftc macrophotographs taken with the vari-
ous close-up attachements. Flash photography
presents no problems, either for the CONTAX
with its fully synchronised all-metal focal plane
shutter. All shutter speeds are set on a single
disc and the setting automatically adjusts the
synchronisation for electronic flash or lorrg-peak focal plane
flash bulbs. You only have to connect the flashgun to the
flash socket; the CONTAX does the rest.
To mention just a few of the many techrrical feattrres: the
CONTAX has a combined range and viewftnder coupled to
the lens, coupled film transport and shutter winding, adjust-
able delayed action, removable back, and so on. A separate
pamphlet contains detailed information. The CONTAX IIIa
also has a btrilt-in photoelectric exposrtre meter.

For a living record of events around You, there is only the

tant occasions at home and with friends. You are yotlr own

providing many long hours of fun. And yet ftlming is even
simpler than photography. You realise that as soon as you get
hold of the HORIZONTAL MOVIKON S. You just set the
ap'erttrre. If you ftlm in colottr you will use the IKOPHOT
(see page 23), and the camera is ready to rttn. No focusing is
necessary except for close-ups since the short focal length of
the fast 10 mm MOVITAR f/1.9 lens has an extraordinarily
great depth of fteld. For example, when set to 3 feet and aper-
ture f 18, everything rvill be sharp from 20 in. to inftnity.
Because of its horizontal shape the MOVIKON 8 is easy to
hold really steady in both hands, just like the CONTAX. The
index ffnger conveniently operates the handy release. The
large and bright optical ftnder clearly shows the correct fteld
of view. For close-up shots-the lens can be foctrsed down to
8 in. (20 cm.)-optical parallax compensation is provided. You
get perfect takes irr any sittration withottt trouble.
Further advantages of this handy narrow-gauge cine camera
are red-dot focusing zones, a safety lock against accidental re-
lease, a running lock so that yott can ftlm yorlrself , single frame
exposures, an atttomatic ftlm counter and removable bad<.
The full versatility of the MOVIKON 8 is realized by the

TH E MOVIKON SYSTEMLarge views of distant subjects are impossible if youcannot get sufftciently close. \x/ith the MovlKoN ghowever you simply screw the MoVITELAR attadr-ment on to the standard lens and you see the sub-ject as if through a telescope. The effective focallength is doubled (20 mm.) but the aperture still re-mains at f/ 1.9. The accessory ftnder shorvs the cor-rect field of view and a special lens hood cuts outsrray light.
A lens attadrment is also available for wide-angleshots. This is the MovIGoNAR and is supplied ina case complete with ftnder and lens hood. It reducesthe effective focal length to 5 mm. keeping the aper-ture constant.Films must of course be titled. The MOVITRIXmultipurpose titler is a really versatile piece ofequipment for this purpose. Running titles, drumtitles or flap-overs are as simple to make as titles infront of a moving badqround. The cone acts as aspecial lerrs hood and can also be trsed as a mattebox for normal ftlming.Artiftcial light shots are best taken with theMOVILUM lighting unit.It is ftrmly attadred to the MovIKoN and can beequipped with four or six reflectors to light up largerooms. Even an experienced camera man can easily slip up in estimating the exposure. He therefore uses a photo-electric exposuremeter. This is simply indispensable for colour photography since even a slight error in exposure will falsify the colours. The IKOPHOT is equally suitable for blacft-and-white and colour photography. Its novel calibration takes care of thespecial properties of reversal ffhn. The sensitivity of the film may be set in DIN or ASA degrees. The IKOPHOT is operated with one hand and the exposure time for any one lens aperture can be read off immediately.Even with fflters no calculation is necessary. A special index mark shows the readings for cine work. Its wide range reliably covers brightness values from brilliant sunlight in the mountains to dim and narrow streets. Underdifftcult lighting conditions the diffusing disc helps to measure the incident light on the scene. The moisture proof ivorycoloured case protects all sensitive parts. Its elegant ever-ready case of rust leather and the gilt safety drain turn theIKOPHOT into the gem of every photographic equipment.I KOP HOT photo-electric exposure meter with iliffusing disc, ever-ready case and safety chain
