There are lots of wonderful hiking trails in and around Latchi and Polis Chrysochous. You can stroll right beside the beachon the boardwalk that connects Latchi to Polis Campsite. It's an easy walk and it is wheelchair accessible. The moreadventurous can hike from Latchi to The Baths of Aphrodite, where besides the famous pool you can tour the littleArboretum. This is where the true Akamas begins - totally laid bare and beautiful. And, your final destination? Thegorgeous Blue Lagoon. In fact there are plenty of opportunities to swim at secluded beaches on the way. You could takean exhilarating trek by quad bike from Latchi through the Akamas Peninsula nature reserve with stunning rock formations,flora and fauna and remote beaches just waiting to be explored. The natural beauty of our coastline and interior has to beseen to be believed. But remember to take plenty of water as this is a long and hot walk in the summer months.

POLIS CHRYSOCHOUSANCIENT MARIONThe Archaeological Museum of Marion-Arsinoe has an extensive collection ofancient artefacts discovered in thesurrounding area. On display are excellentexamples of pottery, statues and otherfinds dating from the Neolithic to theMedieval period.

Once the ancient capital of Cyprus, Poliswas formerly known as ‘Marion’ beforebeing renamed by Ptolemy II Philadelphusin honour of his wife. He was the son ofPtolemy I who founded the PtolemaicKingdom. 200 years later in 36BC Cleopatra & MarkAnthony would name one of their childrenPtolemy to revive this former kingdom. Green and Loggerhead turtles come ashoreto lay their eggs in May & June all along thecoast from Latchi to Argaka.

NEO CHORIO

THE LOOKOUTNeo Chorio looks out across ChrysochousBay and Latchi Harbour. It is a picturesquevillage with many traditional tavernas.

Built on the Laona plateau, and with anaverage altitude of around 170 meters, NeoChorio is located in the Akamas peninsula,with a large part of the peninsula beingunder its administrative authority. Many of its permanent residents areengaged in the cultivation of citrus fruits,grains, fodder plants, almonds and walnuts,chickpeas, and they produce their own wine. Neo Chorio is a traditional village. Aptlyknown as the gateway to the Akamas.

Welcoming, friendly, warm and fun. There is so much to do in this part of Cyprus that incredibly it is all too oftenoverlooked. All along the coastline there are many good quality restaurants and bars serving a variety of Cypriotand international cuisine and many that specialise in fresh fish. There are many traditional trades, including highlyskilled craftsmen and engineers. You can have just about anything made for you, or fixed by them - from upholsteryand household crafts to metalwork and engineering. Servicing and maintenance of private boats is available too inLatchi. And, you can even go 10-pin bowling in Prodromi.

GETTING HEREIf you're driving, there are two ways to getto Latchi and Polis Chrysochous. The mainroute to Polis is via B7 that takes you outthrough the top of Paphos via Mesogi(avenue) uphill towards Tsada, beforemaking your way to Stroumbi, Giolou andSkoulli. You'll come into Polis first, andyou'll need to turn left to get to Latchi. Perhaps a more scenic route to take is fromTombs of The Kings along the coast road toCoral Bay (E701). From here, you can wind-up through Peyia and around Pikni Forest(E709) on your way up to Kathikas. Fromthere, you begin a relaxing drive downthrough the hills on the E711 all the timelooking out on the fabulous ChysochousBay stretched out before you. When youreach the bottom, turn left for Latchi, orturn right for Polis Chrysochous.
