On Wednesday, May 13, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled to overturn Wisconsin's Emergency Orders #28, #34, and #36. These orders from the Wisconsin Department of Health included the "Safer at Home" order and the phased reopening of our state through the "Badger Bounce Back Plan." However, the Wisconsin Supreme Court did not strike down the order for school closures. Mandated closures of Wisconsin's public and private K-12 schools will remain in effect through June 30th. Following the Supreme Court's decision, the Rock County Department of Public Health declared a public health emergency. The county's order in effect restores the "Safer at Home" restrictions on a local level. The School District of Milton must follow the directives from the Supreme Court and the county. Our schools, district buildings, and district grounds will remain closed. To remain compliant, recommendations for PPE, physical distancing and limitations on social gatherings will be followed. To all of our families, please feel free to reach out to our district Superintendent Rich Dahman at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns. MHS Graduation Goes "Virtual, " Families Given Options For Diploma Ceremony

In an email to families on May 12, MHS Principal Jeremy Bilhornofficially announced the plans for 2020's virtual graduation. This year, each family may choose between three diploma ceremony options thatwork best for their circumstances. In summary, students may elect to have their diplomas mailed to them. They may elect to have school administration deliver the diplomas totheir residences. They may also elect to pick up their diplomas in aparents only, social distancing ceremony at MHS. Sanctioned by the Rock County Health Department and approved by theSDM Board of Education, we believe this plan is the best possiblesolution to creating a special moment for our students and familieswhile adhering to the emergency health order.

On June 7th at 2pm, Red Hawk Media will air a compilation recording of each student's ceremony to share withthe community. This is the "virtual" aspect of our graduation plans.

Beginning Monday, MHS staff will be calling graduates that indicated they were interested in Options 2 & 3. Wewant to reassure families that we will work with everyone to schedule a ceremony time that works best with theirfamily's schedule. We will provide as many opportunities as possible to meet that goal. As a reminder to 2020 families, Option 3 (Pick Up at MHS) has strict sanitization and socialdistancing guidelines in place. Only parents of the graduate will be allowed to attend.
