    Yve-Alain Bois (born April 16, 1952) is a professor ofArt History at the School of Historical Studies at theInstitute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey.

    1 EducationBois received an M.A. from the cole Pratique desHautes tudes in 1973 for his work on El Lissitzkys ty-pography, and a Ph.D. from the cole des Hautes tudesen Sciences Sociales in 1977 for his work on Lissitzkysand Malevichs conceptions of space.[1] Both of his de-grees were supervised under Roland Barthes.

    2.1 Academic careerBois is a professor at the European Graduate School andat the School of Historical Studies at the Institute for Ad-vanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, in the chair inau-gurated by Erwin Panofsky.[1] Previously, he served onthe faculty at Harvard University, Johns Hopkins Uni-versity, and the Centre National de la Recherche Scien-tique.[1]

    2.2 WritingBois has written books and articles on artists of Europeanmodernism. He is an editor of the journal October.
