TO YSSCCamp is fun and memorable, and it’s so much more! We play hard and laugh hard. We make new friends and take on new challenges. We’re surrounded by the beauty and wonder of creation. We learn to give more and receive more. We delight in discoveries and long-standing traditions. Camp shows us god’s love in new ways.
since 1972, yosemite sierra summer Camp has been partnering with families to shape the emotional, social, physical and spiritual lives of their children. We offer 2-week sessions for children 8 to 16 years old. Campers live in cabin groups of 5 to 7 children with one consistent counselor. approximately 125 campers and 70 staff members comprise each session “family.” We are committed to safety, a well-trained and nurturing staff, creativity and adventure, and a wisely paced experience that will stretch, support and affirm campers. simply put, yssC is about:
growing Character, growing relationships, growing skills, growing Faith
Whether you are considering joining us for your first time or your sixth, we eagerly welcome you to the Home of the World’s greatest Campers!

CHARACTERLiving in cabin groups and participating in a myriad of small and large group activities is both fun and challenging. our staff provides intentional teaching, invaluable role modeling, and loads of encouragement. being away from the familiarity of home allows children to make more of their own decisions and spread their wings. the result is that campers develop a greater sense of self and true concern for others. Whether on the climbing wall, behind a ski boat, during cabin clean up or a campfire bible story, children experience growth in personal responsibility, independence, empathy, generosity, honesty and respect.

CHARACTER
“I overcame my fears.”
“At camp I am my best self.”
SKILLSone of the many gifts of camp is trying new activities without the pressure to be an expert. another is mastering a skill. in this way, campers can develop a wide variety of skills from archery to friend-making, from kneeboarding to problem solving. as younger campers hone their skills, our graded program allows children to build up to greater accomplishments:
6
Unit 1 – grades 3 through 6: Confidence building and teamwork skills are emphasized in a variety of activities such as water sports, low ropes course, crafts, nature study, yosemite hikes, adventure games and star rock sleep-outs.
Unit 2 – grades 7 and 8: greater physical challenge and opportunities to
take positive risks are introduced through added features of 3-day introductory
backpack trips, high ropes course, Half dome hike and bible seminar choices.
Unit 3 – grades 9 and 10: our oldest campers build on their current skills
and enjoy added opportunities such as the king swing, evening lake activities,
and leadership challenges.

GROWING RELATIONSHIPS
RELATIONSHIPSHelping campers experience belonging and that they are “part of the family” is a high priority at yssC. this is accomplished through supportive relationships, which is one of the greatest strengths of the camp environment. Healthy friendships with cabinmates enhance kids’ self esteem and can last long after camp. meaningful connections with staff offer campers wholesome roles models, caring feedback, and assurance that they are valued simply for who they are. our trained staff of 70 college students and graduates is selected based on experience and passion for working with children, mature Christian faith, communication skills, and zest for life. many return to serve year after year. yssC’s staff to camper ratio is 1:2.

“YSSC was the best time of my life!”
“I made a lasting group of great friends.”
FAITHthrough interactive bible studies, guest speakers, and mature staff, we delight in helping campers understand more vividly god’s love for them and the value of His guidance in their lives. in addition, god’s truths and the tools needed for practical Christian living are best learned when modeled and practiced throughout the daily flow of life. Campers remark that yssC is place to discover faith, belong, ask hard questions, and to be amazed by the wonder of god’s creation.
