What is a Colorimeter?

A Colorimeter measures light absorbance at a particular wavelength.g

The term photometer and colorimeter are often inter-changed.g

The term ‘photometer’ includes instruments that can measure scattered light intensity, absorbance ormeasure scattered light intensity, absorbance or fluorescence.

How does a colorimeter work?

Beer’s Law Simply stated:

There is a logarithmic relationship between the light g p gabsorbed when passed through a colored medium to

the amount of colored substance in the light’s path and the length of that path.the length of that path.
