Organisations often have a statement that encapsulates the nature of the organisation.

We start with learning because the school exists for pupils to learn.

An important part of that learning is the acquisition of knowledgewhich is recognised on the schoolbadge Goreu Arf, Arf Dysg(knowledge the best weapon).

Starting from learning, our aim is to enable pupils to excel.

Stanwell's statement starts with LEARNING and leads to EXCELLENCE.

“Learning andteaching in a safe, stimulating andsupportiveenvironment areparamount, withteamwork, disciplineand effort providingopportunities for allStanwell pupils toenjoy excellence.”

Ysgol Stanwell School

Stanwell School, formerly a Grammar School founded in 1894, is an English-medium co-educational comprehensive school forpupils aged 11-19 with foundation status. There are approximately2000 pupils on roll. In July 2015, Estyn Inspectors awarded theschool the highest rating of Excellent in all the key questions.

StaffThe school has a dedicated and committed staff, which includesover 100 well-qualified teaching staff.

ExaminationsThe school has an excellent academic record, consistentlyachieving results at all levels which are well above the nationalaverage.

HomeworkHomework is an integral part of the school. We advise parents toencourage their children to develop this important daily routine.

As pupils progress through school, the demands of homeworkincrease. Homework is an invaluable stage between direct learningin the younger years, and independent private study in the sixthform. We ask parents to support us in seeing that homework isdone conscientiously. We give pupils a homework planner torecord their homework daily. This enables all of us to be fullyacquainted with the work that is being done.

“The school manages its resources

exceptionally well.”
