Curfews and clear guidelines
Know who they will be with and where they will be.
The occasional ‘no’ will not hurt them

Formal at the AJC Randwick – Optional
•6-8 pm Pre ball drinks – Boys, Partners, Staff & Parents
•8 pm Formal – Only Boys, Partners & Staff
•8 pm Parents function hosted by the Year 12 Vice presidents

Monday October 11th –boys back by 8pm
October 12th, 13th – study days here or at home
Thursday 14th HSC begins with Business Studies. All boys must return by 6.30pm
Friday 15th English for all boys
HSC concludes by 10th November

Normal College rules apply (some boys are asked to live elsewhere)
Leave during the H.S.C. All boys must have requests from parents approved by me before leaving when there is a gap between exams.
Boys must be back at the College by 6.30pm the night before they have an exam.
All boys must leave the College on the day of their last exam having checked off and having had their room closely inspected.

I value the special partnership I have had with you the parents of these very fine men. The Class of 2010 is fortunate to have such great support from home and the school in this important year. I look forward to seeing you all at the end of year functions.

Solid top end of the Form whose standard of work is reported to be outstanding.
Productive during evening study sessions.
Worked well in the Half Yearly examinations.
Some have lost focus in Term 2.
How much work are they doing on the weekend?
Laptops do not solve all human kinds problems!

The HSC is comprised of 50% Assessment and 50% HSC Exams.
Assessments are conducted within the school and involve a range of tasks such as speeches, group assignments, presentations, written tasks, etc.
The HSC exams are conducted by the Board of Studies at the College. A Presiding Officer is appointed by the Board. The school has jurisdiction.

Internal assessment tasks that contribute to the final HSC assessment.
Students and parents have an assessment booklet and a term by term summary sheet outlining the assessment schedule.

Trial HSC exams are the main focus. Trials carry a heavy assessment weighting.
Exam periods often carry increased stress for many students.
Some assessment task will continue after the Trials in some subjects.

Holiday preparation is essential.
Study is centred around completing past exam papers.
Saturation study using past papers.
Reduced computer time. More written work.
Complete responses to a set time frame similar to exam conditions.

ATAR – Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank.
Separate to the HSC but reliant on the HSC
Students will receive a PIN in the mail at their home address during term 3.
We will assist students in making their on-line registration and organising their preferences.
Preferences can be changed.

Illness and misadventure AT THE TIME OF THE EXAM.
Students are encouraged to sit for the exam unless it is physically impossible for them to do so.
Presiding Officer makes observations of the student during the exam and completes a report.
A doctor’s certificate is essential.
Illness and Misadventure forms are submitted not later than a week after the student’s last exam.
