Daycamp Participants...

should arrive by 9 am on Saturday, January 28th to register will attend a morning class with one guest instructor will attend an afternoon class with a second guest instructor will attend lunch and supper and snack times will be able to participate in all evening activities will finish their day at 9 pm, Saturday, January 28th

 Weekend Participants...

should arrive by 7 pm on Friday, January 27th to register must bring bedding, toiletries, etc. (a complete list will be mailed upon receipt of application) will be assigned a dorm (all dorms are separated according to gender) will attend a morning class with one guest instructor will attend an afternoon class with a second guest instructor will attend breakfast (Saturday and Sunday), lunch and supper and snack times on Saturday will be able to participate in all evening activities will finish their weekend at 9 am, Sunday, January 29th

Superb Supervisory Team

Gail Sidonie Sobat, Coordinatoris an award-winning educator with over 25 years of experience (despite her obvious youth).  She created and designed YouthWrite in 1996, and it has been her passion ever since.  Gail is a published author and

creative writing instructor and mentor.  She has taught in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta, at the University of Alberta Hospital School and at Centre High Campus, as well as overseas in Istanbul, Turkey.  She has been writer in residence on numerous occasions in Edmonton schools, at Queens' University, and through the Canadian Authors Association at the U of A Bookstore.  Gail was a co-finalist for the Governor General's Award for Excellence in Teaching History.

 

Marla Albiston, Supervisor

is super duper excited to be back for her eighth time as super, this time at Winter WordPlay!  She has had the wonderful pleasure of knowing the fabulous Gail Sobat (whom she loves) for over six years now, having been her student, YouthWrite supervisor, and teaching colleague.  Marla is a high school English teacher, dancer, and dance instructor, who studied circus in Australia.  She is looking forward to what is going to be a very special weekend with fantastic instructors and camp participants.  And did she mention that she adores Gail?

Noel Taylor, Supervisoris back at YouthWrite for his seventh time, and he could not be more excited!  He has also been completed yet another trip to Japan, and has been touring and performing with his band, Scrapbooker.  As well, Noel's been starring as the cute guy/ eye candy in the hilarious Hey Ladies! at the Roxy Theatre.  Currently, he teaches English Language Arts and Drama at McKernan School in Edmonton.  Noel would like to thank each and every person involved with YouthWrite for letting him be a part of this amazing adventure once again!  And Noel especially loves Gail, in case you were wondering.
