TOGETHER WE SERVE: Catholics making a difference

Did You Know…?

There are 10 Goals of TWS: “4. To keep the appeal process at the par-ish level to allow relationships with appeal donors to be forged and grown with in the parish - the place where people experience Church. 5. To ensure Together We Serve is con-sistent with the Gospel both explicitly, in its messaging, and implicitly, in the way it operates. 6. To encourage parishes to plan and coor-dinate their own charitable initiatives and extraordinary needs within this one annu-al appeal.”

SAINT OF THE MONTH:

Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati

Called the Man of Eight Beatitudes by Pope JPII

Feast Day: July 4

Prayer to Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati Father, You gave to the young Pier Gior-gio Frassati the joy of meeting Christ and of living his faith in service of the poor and the sick. Through his intercession, may we, too, walk the path of the Beati-tudes and follow the example of his gener-osity, spreading the spirit of the Gospel in society. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

WHAT IS RCIA? Do you feel a gentle tugging towards get-ting to know Jesus more deeply through the Sacraments? Are you sensing a call to be-come a Catholic? Perhaps it is time to con-sider the RCIA… RCIA sessions begin on Thursday, Septem-ber 8 at 7 pm in the Marguerite d’Youville Room, and are held every Thursday until May 25. You are welcome to contact Ena at 587 879 5911 to register, and for more infor-mation.

EDUCATION CENSUS: Please consider giving a couple worthwhile hours to providing service to your neigh-bour through an Alberta Education Census during the month of July. Presently, many people in our community are denied access to Catholic Education as they are non-residents to the Greater St. Albert Catholic School Board. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and a simple training ses-sion will be provided. Please contact the Census Coordinator, Melissa Phillips at 780-616-1525 or [email protected]

GRACE AT MEALS: Grace Before Meals This Week:

Leader: Lord Jesus, we thank You for Your Word. You showed great mercy to the re-pentant woman (Luke 7:36-50).

All: Heal us with Your forgiveness and change our lives.

Together: Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

After the Meal: We give You thanks, Al-mighty God, for all Your gifts, who live and reign now and forever. Amen.

SAVE THE DATE: Please mark your calendar for these Parish wide events coming up in the fall: August 14th - Skaro Pilgrimage. There is a bus leaving Holy Family, please contact the office to reserve a spot on the bus.

September 11th—Parish Picnic after 11 am Mass in Kingswood Park

October 15th—Parish 25th Anniversary Potluck Dinner after the 5 pm Mass in the Parish Hall.

WEDDINGS: Jillian Pineau & Blake Zutatuas

DAYCAMPS: Kids 12+ can help as youth leaders in our Daycamps. They will run August 8th - 12th. We are in desperate need of adult leaders to run this week. If you are able to help with all or part of the week please contact Nicole Painchaud at the parish office. Leaders are needed to help with childcare of volunteer children and programing for various age groups.

MAKE SUNDAY MASS YOUR PRIORITY

As summer approaches and we begin our family vacation time, please continue to make Sunday Mass attendance a PRIORI-TY. It is very simple these days to search Catholic Churches online anywhere in the world. The great majority have their Mass times posted along with addresses (with map directions) for convenience. Lets ask for God’s protection and His grace as our families enjoy all the blessings He has showered us with. May you and your fami-lies enjoy a time of recreation, peace, and joy this summer season.

AUTO-DEBIT: As an easy way to continue your contribu-tions while on vacation this summer consid-er Auto-Debit. 35% of all our envelope us-ers are already taking advantage of this convenient way to give. There are special “I give by auto-debit” cards available in the foyer for the collection basket. If you are interested in this way of giving please con-tact the parish office.

GOD SQUAD BBQ: Jeff Cavins and The God Squad are plan-ning to come to Holy Family Parish on Au-

gust 9, 2016 around 7pm. Jeff Cavins is the creator of The Great Adventure Bible Time-line bible study program. He will give a talk that evening on the course and on the sub-ject of men's role and responsibilities in the Church and Family. Holy Family is running this bible study program, this is a great opportunity to see what the program is and it is a good tool to aid in your decision to participate in the program.

TRIATHALON: Next Sunday, August 7th, there will be a triathlon running through the neighbour-hood surrounding the Church. This will affect some routes in getting to Church. Please plan your route accordingly as the race will run down Sir Winston Churchill Rd. Vehicles will not be permitted to turn either direction from Boudreau, and there will be police officers directing traffic at Poirier. Thank you for your patience.

KofC DONATIONS: The K of C are collecting coffee mugs for the Operation Friendship Seniors’ Society Centre (9526 – 106th Ave). They are in need of 10 000 coffee mugs. There will be a box in the cloak room to accept your dona-tions. Thank you for your generosity.

FUNERALS: Our condolences and prayers to the family of:

Bill (July 30th)

All: Heal us with Your forgiveness and change our lives.

Together: Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
