Cloudy2Clear Windows - Service with a smile!t’s been a crazy few months for Cloudy2Clear Windows. The company which specialises in

repairing windows which are steamed up, broken or damaged by replacing the panes - not the frames has grown rapidly as homeowners take advantage of their services.

Managing Director Billy Harley feels that it’s all about service. ‘Our product is simple. If your double glazing is misted up we can replace the glass at a fraction of the cost of a new window, in any type of frame, and with a new 5 year guarantee. But it’s not just about saving people money, although that obviously helps.

Many tradespeople have struggled since last year and I honestly feel that during the good times a minority perhaps didn’t focus on customer care as much as they should have done. We make sure we turn up when we say we will, do the job the

customer requires and leave their house as clean as a whistle. I often get comments back from customers on how they really didn’t expect that sort of service which, in a way, is very sad for the service industry as a whole.

’ Cloudy2Clear service the Milton Keynes, Bedford and Leighton Buzzard areas and Billy is finding that his

approach is a major factor in his success. ‘The truth is that it’s not just the personal satisfaction that I get from doing a good job but also it makes good business sense. I get a huge amount of business from friends and family of people I’ve done work for, which just goes to show how much a little bit of effort is appreciated .’

I

So, if your windows are steamed up, broken or damaged give billy a call for a free quotation on 0800 61 21 118 and he’ll be happy to help!

Do you need legal advice about a Will or Lasting Power of Attorney, or dealing with an

What’s an LPA?

Visit my website www.alanpsquires.co.uk for more information about the two different types of Lasting Powers of Attorney and details of my fixed fees, including “packaged” fees for Wills and LPAs made together.

Lasting Power of Attorney, or “LPA”, is a document by which you appoint another person to manage your finances

or take decisions for you if you are ever incapable of doing so for yourself. You may have seen my article about Wills in editions of MK Flyer earlier this year. Many people are coming to realise that making an LPA can be just as important as making a Will.Consider the following statistics:*

There are currently 800,000 •people with dementia in the UKThis figure is expected to increase to •over one million people by 202180% of people in care homes have a form of •dementia or severe memory problemsTwo thirds of people with dementia live in the •community (rather than in a care home)

Sadly, many of us have had direct experience of a family member or friend suffering from dementia or other mental illness and realise not only how upsetting the condition can be, but also the difficulties that arise in dealing with normal day to-day activities like running bank accounts, paying bills or dealing with pensions and other benefits, or even more complicated matters such as selling a property. There may also be a need to make decisions about medical treatment or other health issues.

Have you ever considered who would deal with these matters if a member of your family, or even you yourself, were to lose mental capacity?

Unfortunately, like with Wills, it’s not something that we want to think about. But if it were to happen, with no LPA in place, the legal procedure to take over a person’s financial and property affairs or medical and health issues is likely to involve a long and expensive process

through the Court.People make Wills because - to put it bluntly - death is inevitable. The risk of dementia,

thankfully, is not.

But the hard truth is that 1 in 3 people over 65 will develop

dementia, rising to 1 in 6 for those over 80.* Making an LPA is like taking out fire insurance: you hope that your house isn’t going to burn

down, but at least you’re insured if it does.

ow this is a really nice car as you know by now we at Carnoisseur Towers like our fast cars and this doesn’t disappoint.

It’s a really nice drive even at slow speeds it feels good and it’s a 4x4 so holds the road really well I think you would pick this over the GTI.

The Volkswagen Golf R has two fewer letters after its name than the Golf GTI, but it’s no less impressive. In fact, if you’re after Porsche-like performance for less money, then the R will be your kind of car. It has a 0-62mph time of 4.9 seconds – over a second and a half quicker than the GTI’s 6.5-second time and the R has a top speed of a 155MPH !!

The Golf R hatchback is available with three or five doors and a choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or VW’s DSG six-speed twin-clutch automatic. The GTI-based interior has been warmed up with a few R style touches. The car rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and is finished in Tornado Red as standard. Other colours cost extra.

Inevitably, a Golf R will cost a little more to run than a GTI, but it’s a price die-hard Golf enthusiasts will probably be happy to pay in order to enjoy the model’s extra performance and exclusivity. It should hold its value at least as well as a regular GTI, and at three years or 60,000 miles, warranty is the same.

Servicing will be a little dearer, with the R’s four-wheel-drive transmission, for example, requiring additional attention. Surprisingly, insurance should be no more expensive than for the GTI.

Inside it’s also very impressive with its blue neon interior

lights great parking system if it was mine I would want leather

and sat nav but apart from that it’s well spec’d and great value for money.

My friend Stacey and I were invited to B-town to try out their fantastic Valentines Menu and what an experience we had.The décor is very modern and inviting, you really do feel relaxed and comfortable in your surroundings.Mo Abdul, the owner greeted us and showed us to our candle lit table for 2 he really made us feel welcome and looked after us very well all evening as did his staff Kash and Joanna our waiter and barmaid for the evening. Our dinner started with the B-town Valentines Signature Cocktail ‘Love Potion’ This was creamy and just tasted like strawberry milkshake with the added kick of alcohol. For our starter we had Lamb Cutlets marinated with garlic and ginger spiced with cinnamon and black cardamom, which had a little kick to it and was mouth watering. We still had room for our main course, or so we thought!

The slow cooked Lamb Shanks braised in Hybrabadi Korma Sauce just fell off the bone it was so soft and tasted out of this world. This dish is also accompanied with Saag Aloo, Saffron Pilau Rice and Naan Bread. We did make a little room for some Mango Kulki (Indian Ice Cream) but I couldn’t fit anymore in. I was totally stuffed after that feast. I would like to say anyone looking to have a romantic meal for Valentines Day with that special someone get your table booked now to avoid disappointment, this menu will blow your socks off.

ilates is a form of exercise, developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900’s.

He developed Pilates from other forms of exercise such as yoga, gymnastics and martial arts. Pilates was widely used by ballerina’s in the 1940’s onwards, but it has steadily grown in popularity, around the world, and it is used by celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Madonna, Liz Hurley, Ian MCKellan and Martin Amis.

How can Pilates benefit your health?Pilates helps you use your body more efficiently. Following my classes and involvement in Pilates, patients have reported increased energy levels, improved posture, improved muscle strength and flexibility and less aching of their bodies.

Am I too old or unfit Pilates?Pilates is an exercise for all age groups and fitness levels. If you feel unsure, or are recovering from

an injury and like you may need some individual training before doing a group class, in the form of one-on-one sessions.

Pilates will help you improve your muscle strength. Balance exercises are practiced

in our Pilates classes, hence giving you the strength and stability to prevent falls, especially as you get older.

Can Pilates help reduce back pain?

Research has shown that doing core strengthening exercises and

Pilates can help relieve nonspecific, mechanical low back pain. At Action

Physiotherapy, the Pilates classes are small and tailored to the individuals.

e are now very much in the run-up to the General Election and in this article I want to set out what motivates me to stand for re-election.

It’s easy to forget just how close to the brink Britain was five years ago. We were spending so much more as a country than we earned that we were on the verge of financial ruin. That meant taking difficult decisions for the long-term good. We have come back from the brink and our economy is now growing. We have made good progress towards living within our means. We are not, however, there yet. It is very tempting to think that the job is done, but we must

MP’s diaryW

Page 19: yourlocalflyer MK West | February 2015

remain on the road to recovery in order to pass on a legacy to future generations. I often get frustrated by the short-term nature of politics. Many challenges are not ones that will be fixed overnight. For

example, in education and training, improvements are taking place, but we still have work to do if we want to equip

students with the skills they need for modern Britain and a work ethos that employers frequently tell me

is needed. Issues such as these often need a shift in culture as well as in policy. There is much more investment being devoted locally into healthcare and to providing health services that support their communities, but

money is only part of the picture. A growing population, increasing life-expectancy and scientific

advances place ever-increasing demands on our NHS. It is right to take time and think through properly what is

the best way to organise the NHS locally.I stand for election as your MP because I want to secure our long-term future. I will be arguing that we are on the right track and that we must stick to that path in order to complete the recovery that this Conservative led Government began in 2010.

very gardener has at least one guilty secret: mine is begonias. My mother insists they are vulgar and she wouldn’t give them house room.

A gardening friend turned up her nose at my begonia baskets last year but I won’t hear a word against them. They are the cheerful, cockney barrow boys of the plant world and I love them.

They are pretty easy to grow once you know how, and you can start them off any time now if you have a warm windowsill or a propagator.

The tubers should feel rock hard when you squeeze them. If they feel spongy, put them back.

There is also a right way up and a wrong way up. Take your tuber and examine it. There should be a concave surface - like a little dip - and a convex surface. The dip is the upper surface from which the shoots will grow and the convex surface sprouts the roots.

that the surface of the compost is 2.5cm /1 inch below the rim of the pot. This eventually allows for watering, but at this time of year the top of the tuber should be kept dry.

Push the tubers - concave side up remember - into the compost so that the top of each tuber is still visible. Don’t bury them.

Keep the pots at somewhere between 15-18C / 60-75F in the propagator in a greenhouse or on a bright windowsill,

though not in direct sunlight.

Water with care and when the first flowers appear make sure they are well ventilated. High humidity and erratic watering can cause the buds to drop off.

Finally, begonias have both male and female flowers. The male ones are far bigger and more

showy, so pinch off the female ones, which can be spotted because they possess an embryonic seed

pod behind the bud. Doing this will mean that the male flowers will last much longer. You may need to stake

them to support the heads.

When summer arrives you will be able to plant up pots and baskets and bask in the flamboyant blowsy beauty of the begonia: Who could resist.
