Mission, Vision, and PlansforPILGRIMAGE: Our SacredJourneyTogether as People of FaithOverthe past year and a half, we’ve gathered assmall groups to share our hopes, dreams, potentialblocks and challenges, for being a vital church intothefuture. We’ve talked specifically about ourdirection for the next 3-5 years.

You’ve named 4 ministry directions that will be our focus. All of us are invited to journey together as pilgrimson the way towards Christ!

Page 6: Your weekly news & updatesn.b5z.net/i/u/10234489/f/Flyer/Weekly_Outlook_07132017.pdfEach session will include a 10 minute video lesson by Randy Frazee, who most recently served as

In some of my reading about PILGRIMAGE, I’ve been blessed to discover some good practices that pertain tonot only physical pilgrimages to a destination, but also to our metaphorical pilgrimage, as a sacred journey inmission and vision.

Practices of Pilgrimages…for travelers on sacred journeysPractice the arts of attention and listeningPractice renewing yourself every day.Practice meandering toward the center of every place.Practice the ritual of reading sacred texts.Practice gratitude and praise-singing.

Abraham, becomes our example of a faithful pilgrim on a sacred journey:Faith is the reality of what we hope for, the proof of what we don’t see. 2 The elders in the past wereapproved because they showed faith…

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was going to receive as aninheritance. He went out without knowing where he was going.

By faith he lived in the land he had been promised as a stranger. He lived in tents along with Isaac andJacob, who were coheirs of the same promise. He was looking forward to a city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God. - Hebrews 11:1-2, 8-10

Below, you’ll find more details of the road map we have in front of us for the next 3-5 years. Find yourbackpack, your walking stick, a friend, and prepare to journey in faith. Your pastors, staff and church leaderswill be walking alongside, noticing holy moments.

Grace & peace, Your Pastors, Staff, and Church Leaders

The study is 5 sessions, with no class on August20, and will end September 3. We have allheard well-worn clichés in our daily living and believed theywere somethingthat may come from the Bible. They capture some elementof truth, yetthey miss the point in important ways and can lead us downunfaithful andsometimes dangerous paths.
