Certification of ENplus / CANplus - Standard
Commonly Missed Items
Be sure to:
Calibrate all measuring equipment
Train your people
Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for conducting lab tests, collecting samples, and retaining reference samples
Documenting change over procedures when producing multiple grades
Documenting non-conformances
Demarcating non-conforming materials areas
Tracking complaints
PFI Standards Program • Very similar to ENplus/CANplus in
regard to QMS components.
• However very different in other ways: Does not cover the entire supply
chain (producer certification only)
References ASTM Standards
Grade Criteria is specific to the US market
• Approved for use within the US EPA’s NSPS.
ENplus/CANplus vs PFI Grade Criteria
Differences in PFI Third Party Oversight
• Audits are conducted on a monthly basis
• 90% conformance criteria in conjunction with a 10%/2% rule.
• On-site labs are optional (to some extent).
• Audit samples are initially collected at a rate of 1 sample per 1,000 tons of production.
• Sample collection frequency may be reduced to 1 sample per 5,000 tons of production based on demonstrated compliance and the use of an on-site lab.
