HOW SOLAR WORKS

Suntech solar panels contain photovoltaic cells which convert the suns light into DC electricity. The

panels are connected to the inverter with cables, which converts this electricity into AC power which is

When your solar grid system is installed you have a bi-directional meter installed just after the panels

and inverter are installed. This calculates how much power you house needs and if the solar system is

producing more power than this, it feeds the power back into the grid. Solar owners in Tasmania

Solar power is still generated on cloudy or overcast days, however at a reduced output. At

Conceptual design and sizing Nearmaps program allows us to create panel

layouts via satellite imagery. Initial price indication. Once concept is

accepted, then proceed to step 2.

Site inspection. Design system. Document important installation details. Produce

detailed presentation with detailed production projections and pricing. We ask for a 50%

deposit and balance upon completion. We have Green loan funding available to assist,

Solar Modules

Our proposal as outlined above includes the use of Suntech’s latest release

Monocrystalline solar modules. These panels are a “Tier 1” panel and only one of two

brand panels V.D.E Accredited (VDE is the Association for Electrical, Electronic &

Information Technologies,) which further demonstrates Suntech’s commitment to both

quality and performance. With the Suntech module you can be guaranteed that the

module will operate to specification or higher, as our ongoing case study keeps revealing

some 27% better yields over other tier 1 but lower cost national brand competitors

systems.

We have installed over 1400 systems state-wide over the last decade and quickly

narrowed the choice from a myriad of brands down to Suntech as virtually exclusive over

the past seven to eight years and have been selected on over 1000 installations so far,

therefore many thousands of Suntech panels have been used in our installations to date.

Suntech is fully setup as a wholly owned branch of Suntech head office in Wuxi, China.

They also have had a long term commitment to Australia in R & D (Research and

Development) with a long term close historical connection to UNSW (university of NSW)

where basically the business grew from. Suntech still employs many scientists in

Australia as part of over 200 scientists world-wide.

Suntech is also virtually debt free company. Most major brands carry huge debt ratios,

which means Suntech, will be around for the long haul. Suntech continues to produce the

highest quality product along with continued product development, which results in

Jessups Solar Squad choosing and recommend Suntech.

The 315 watt Suntech panels of same physical size version as the old 250 watt panels od

just a few years ago. The Latest 330w panel gives better performance ratio’s again for

your money and is just slightly taller 100 mm demonstrates the continued focus on

product from Suntech’s Research and development division.

So whilst our older installations take up more space on the roof there is no need to look

to upgrading the panels even if they are the old 160 watt smaller sized panels unless

your require the roof space to improve system size. Otherwise just adding on a new

system in conjunction to existing system is most common to upgrade to a bigger overall

system. However for new systems the latest panel technology allow more kw’s per

available roof space, where this is an issue. Ground mount systems are also a growing

choice for our customers now as they are much more cost effective than ever before.

Mono V Poly

Polycrystalline (or multicrystalline) modules are

composed of a number of different crystals, fused

together to make a single cell (hence the term

'multi'). Typically mono crystalline see chamfered

corners thus giving less surface area on the cell and on

the solar panel overall. This sees polycrystalline panels

with more surface area available for solar gain in each panel.

Historically in the solar industry, mono crystalline panels have always been regarded the

superior choice. Typically an identical physical size panel in mono has a higher rated

output.

Installation and Approvals

All Jessups installations are carried out to meet Clean Energy Council and local council

requirements by our qualified contractor. We will conduct all necessary work on switch

boards install all as per specification and in full compliance.

Jessups will generate and submit all necessary approvals and applications to

Tasnetworks and Councils where required, and all structural approvals needed. Also

Jessups will generate all required government rebate paperwork.

As part of the process we will require the STC rebate to be assigned to us

We will also need to provide proof of ownership of property site, for the rebate process.

This can be done with a copy of a power bill page 1 & 2 referring your details on page 1

and the NMI number on page 2.

Suntech Solar Modules

Internationally accredited module

performance modelling showed that Suntech Panels performed better

than their 25 year warranty states by only dropping to 80% performance

in years 28 and 32. Higher end tier 3 brands all failed during the pre-test

stage. This left the other tier 2 and tier 1 panels that failed the main line

test from years 7 onwards. It is obvious from this that investment in Suntech Panels,

secures your investment for the long term.

So What Is VDE Quality Certification?

Following is an extract from the Clean Energy Council information on PV module quality. It outlines how rigorous the testing and auditing is for VDE quality assurance:

Rigorous testing and surveillance of existing standards is provided by this

certification program, which has been developed to provide assurance of

increased reliability and durability of modules. Along with quarterly

laboratory testing of a sample of production modules, it also requires

production line sample testing on a daily basis, with some tests required

for 100% of production.

Some of the testing involves additional test cycles and higher sampling

rates than required by the international standards. The associated VDE

Quality Tested certificate ensures that all production modules meet the

very high standards set - Enhanced PV module quality, Clean Energy

Council.

We propose to install SMA inverters to facilitate the installation. SMA are extremely robust in build and highly technically advanced against the marketplace. They offer inbuilt wi fi connectivity to draw down data with current, daily and lifetime generated within the software on board, yes they are the dearest inverter on the market, yet hold some 50% + world market share. This demonstrates the value placed on the equipment performance and reliability by the market. SMA is the only Inverter to hold V.D.E. accreditation as well. We locally have installed over 1000 SMA inverters across Tasmania and confidently can report highest performance results and reliability. READY TO BUY, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Contact us to confirm your purchase and we will generate a Sales Order invoice. Upon receipt of the deposit normally, 50% of the after rebate price, we submit application to Tas Networks for due approval and organise your installation day advising accordingly. Typically installation would occur within 14 – 21 days or sooner. Normally 3~6.6 kw systems are a one day install and larger 10kw systems would take a second day on site to install. STC rebate to be assigned to Jessups. Please note you deduct the rebate amount from the gross price on the invoice and as noted you only pay us the NETT PRICE figure after rebates as the rebate credit will come back us from the Greenhouse trader to us once we submit panel numbers and sundry paperwork to them following installation. Then receipted to your sales order paying off the rebate from the gross amount. In regard to fitting a Solar Feed-in meter we arrange for the new meter to be installed. The process takes up to twenty (20) days to see Metering Dynamics fit the new meter and the charge for this being up to $186 currently appears directly through your next energy bill. On the day of the install we demonstrate the system as fully working, but without your new meter you should leave the system turned off until the new meter is fitted. Once Metering Dynamics have installed the new meter, please check that your Solar System is then switched on as technically they are not responsible for switching on your system, but in most cases they do. Call us if unsure, and we can talk you through the switch on procedure.
