60 TON Challenge and 2000 Turkeys It’s on! - The 60-TON Food challenge. And YOU can help SBM reach the goal. Watch the Big Red Thermometer in front of SBM’s building go up and up and up. But it won’t do this unless YOU grab that bag in the newspaper and fill it with lots of food and then take it to your local WSFS branch. If you don’t have the newspa- per bag, any bag will do. Thanksgiving week SBM will give out over 1400 food boxes with turkeys and pies. To fill those food boxes for 1400 families, to provide food for Thanksgiv- ing, to provide food for Christmas and into the New Year we need to collect at least 60-TONS of food. YOU can help provide hundreds of thousands of meals. Fill a bag today! Speaking of turkeys, we also need to collect over 2000 turkeys and to cel- ebrate that we will have a Big Turkey also out front of the Mission. Every time 100 more turkeys are gathered another feather will be added to the big turkey. Listen to Rev. EP Church and Ruth Naomi Floyd

Gospel JazzBenefits the Mission

Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Newark presented Ruth Naomi Floyd in a jazz concert to benefit Sunday Breakfast Mission on Oct. 19th in Songs for Faith, Hope & Love.

Ruth Naomi Floyd was raised in a pastor’s home in Phil-adelphia where she found a love for Jesus, a love in sharing the Gospel and a love for hurting people. She also was given by God a beautiful voice to sing His praises and a talent to write songs.

On October 19th, Ruth Naomi Floyd brought her Gospel Jazz to the concert series of Evangelical Pres-byterian Church in Newark, DE. With the assistance of a premier team of musician - Aaron Graves, Byron “Wookie” Landham, Matthew Parrish and Dr. William E. Smith (W.E.S.) - she sang her own composition and arrangements of some traditional and contemporary Christian songs speaking of Peace, Hope, Love and Faith but especially Jesus.

Around all the superb music she implored the 450 plus in attendance to give out of love and care to the Sunday Breakfast Mission. And in word and music she pleaded that for Christ’s sake everyone should give themselves, their lives, to reach those whom society has cast out.

Thank you Ruth and thank you EP Church!New Castle County Officers honor Lt. Joe Szczerba’s memory by giving Hope Tote items to those in need.

August 24, 2014 Sunday Breakfast Mission was the recipient of Brandywine White’s generosity in a sponsored event to help those who are less for-tunate. Guests dressed in all white brought along everything needed to set an elegant and chic din-ner table. In addition, they brought canned meats, tuna, spam, vegetables, stews and all stages of baby food, formula (especially hypo-allergenic). SBM also received fresh produce and fruit from com-

munity gardens. Some individuals made monetary donations to help purchase food items.

Partnerships with associations and organiza-tions such as Brandywine White allows SBM to feed over 500 men, women, children and babies nutritious meals every day without any cost to them. If you have an innovative idea call Nancy Wheeler at 877-306-HOME (4663), so you can dis-cuss ways to make it happen.

Thank you – Brandywine White!

SBM Coffee Talk & Tour “Save

The Date”

Have YOU attended SBM’s Coffee Talk & Tour? Ev-ery six weeks Pastors and their leadership staff have the opportunity to come together in fellowship over coffee and pastries while receiving an overview of what’s happening at SBM culminating with a tour of our facilities. From the Multi-Purpose area - to the Overnight Dorm - to the Resident Quarters and Store - you will get a wholistic view of how God is blessing and how SBM operates.

Time and again individuals are surprised at the many facets of ministry going on throughout the building and the many opportunities to get involved through volunteerism, donations and gifts.

From SBM’s inception to the new Women and Fam-ily Center we have continued to provide physical help and spiritual healing to needy individuals.

Lives are being changed, hungry are being fed, hurting are finding healing and homeless are finding shelter all in the name of Jesus! Without prayers, vol-unteerism and investment of local churches like YOU SBM could not reach the numbers for Christ in our community. YOUR valuable support keeps this min-istry moving forward. Today is a great time to sign up for the Coffee Talk and Tour.

Contact Rev. Nancy Wheeler [email protected], (302) 652-8314 x 172 to scheud-ule a date.

Volunteers Rise to the Challenge

Meeting with a volunteer counselor

When you give to Sunday Breakfast Mission

you often see our famous $1.92 meal ticket.

And while you may find it hard to believe that

is only costs $1.92, we really are able to provide

at that cost a single hot, nutritious meal for a

man, woman, boy or girl who comes here to eat

nightly or is in one of our residential programs

or comes for a food box to eat at home. YOU

provide that wonderful nutritious meal to a

hungry child or adult. And, by the way, many

more are coming to us these days for that ne-

cessity of life!

But when you give $25 or $50 or $100, $200

or $500 what else do YOU provide to the

homeless, hungry and hurting, because YOUR

dollars go for meals and so much more!

For $25, YOU may provide:• 12 meals for the hungry or• 1 day of care for a homeless individual

For $50, YOU may provide:

• 25 meals for the hungry or• 1 day of rehabilitation from addiction for a

homeless husband and wife

For $200, YOU may provide:• 104 meals for hungry men, women, boys &

girls or• 2 enormous food boxes for families desper-

ately needing food or• 8 days of care for a homeless woman or man

or• 1 month of counseling for a hurting home-

less individual

For $500 YOU can provide:• 1 night of our community meal program

through our Supper Club Program or• 2 months of work therapy and education for

a formerly homeless adult.Through YOUR generous donations YOU pro-

vide all this and the message to the homeless, hungry and hurting that God loves them and has a wonderful plan for their lives!

YOUR Dollars Provide Food, Care and Love

YOUR dollars go for meals and so much

more!

“Let me break three eggs on your head and I’ll give you a dollar,” said a boy to his younger brother. “Okay!” the little one replied. Giggling with anticipation, the older brother cracked the first two eggs, but not the third. Attempting to open his eyes he said “Come on, I’m ready,” to which the older brother slyly replied, “Are you kidding? That would cost me a dollar.” (Illus-tration adapted from Darren McCormick) What a disappointment! If only the younger brother could have had some sort of guarantee.

We can provide a solid guarantee for those we love with an up-to-date Will. Jesus said in Matthew 7:24 that whoever hears His words and does them is like “a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Taking time to be sure your financial house is in order today can ensure you’ve estab-lished a solid foundation for generations to come.

A Rock-Solid Estate Plan:• Ensures the person of your choosing distributes your estate upon death. • Allows you to name guardianship of your children. • Reduces taxes and court costs.• Creates an opportunity to bless a favorite Christian charity like Sun-

day Breakfast Mission.Consider today how you can build a solid foundation for their future. For the full version of this article, ask for a FREE copy of “Give Your

Family a Rock-Solid Guarantee” by simply checking the box on the en-closed reply card or by contacting Rev. Tom Layman at (302) 656-8542, ext. 103 or [email protected] - or bless your family today with a God-honoring Will at www.christianwill.org/sbm
