We’re Ready to Work With YouWe receive funding from the city, the county, and individual business leaders, but we make our decisions independently — and quickly. Speed is a hallmark of Jerome 20/20 because we are clear on the type of businesses we want to attract and why, and we have the network of state and regional connections to make plans come to life.
You’re Ready to Build. We’re Ready to Help. Jerome — the name of both the county and its biggest city — offers access that other regions simply can’t. Strategically situated in South-Central Idaho, the Jerome area has unparalleled connections to major interstate arteries, rail lines, and airports that reach throughout the vast West.
But access is about more than just bringing products in or shipping them out. Through Jerome 20/20, the area’s economic development organization, you’ll gain the support and key contacts you need to gain approvals quickly. We’re ready to meet you where you are and help shape your successful future.
You’re about to discover why agriculture, dairy, manufacturing, processing, and logistics companies have been seeking out our area over the past 20 years — and why thousands of employees love calling this place home.

JEROME — Jerome County was home to the Minidoka Relocation Center — known to locals as “Hunt Camp” — the largest of 11 relocation centers throughout the West used by the federal government during World War II to house thousands of people of Japanese ancestry from the West Coast.
Barracks from the Hunt Camp can be found reused as homes, office buildings and barns on both sides of the river. A bar-rack recreating life at the camp is featured in every tour of Jerome County Historical Society’s IFARM (Idaho Farm and Ranch Museum) at the crossroads of U.S. 93 and Interstate 84.
But that’s not the society’s traditional historical museum; it’s in downtown Je-rome in a former train depot.
The society, founded in 1981, started its first downtown museum in a log cabin be-
fore moving into The Depot Museum about a decade ago. Jerome’s historical society had an unusually robust group of volun-teers, but many are aging out now.

Early Jerome CountyMany small communities made up Jerome County in the early years. Coppdale (which soon became Falls City), Barrymore, Hunt, Green-wood, Hillsdale and Sugar Loaf are names of Jerome County towns rarely uttered these days.Only Jerome, Eden and Hazelton are left.Jerome County grew up in the shadow of Twin Falls County, as the north side’s development of irrigation came on the heels of its neighbor to the south. That area on the north side had a few hiccups in the years before becoming a county in 1919. North Side Canal Co. developers ran into problems because of the po-rosity of the bedrock north of the Snake River. Jerome Reservoir, built to store irrigation water, leaked like a sieve and never filled. Kuhn brothers Jerome and Wendell eventually went into receivership.

The 1910 museum building itself — one of Jerome’s two railroad depots — sat on the west side of town across the street from to-day’s livestock commission yard. The city of Jerome purchased the building in the 1970s from Union Pacific Corp. for $1 and moved

C reativity in the workplace has become a “must have”. Today we oper-ate in a highly competi-tive, global environment,
making creativity crucial. You might be wondering what does creativity do for a business or organization? It is creativ-ity that keeps your business moving for-ward with fresh new ideas and innova-tion. This encompasses more than new products or services, it includes stream-lining efficiency and productiveness.
Many people view their jobs as 8-to-5 grind in a cubicle or office, dreaming of the weekends. We often have set tasks that need to be accomplished and often feel there is no time for cre-ativity. Being creative at work generally means taking risks, which can make some people hesitate. Fear of the un-known is powerful, especially if it means you might fail. Boland Jones, CEO PGi Software said: “Creativity leads to pro-ductivity.”
Applying creative thinking in your ev-eryday work life will stop the drudgery and you will be able to unlock more meaningful results. Creativity in the workplace is for everyone regardless of their position. Focusing on the big picture, employees become emotion-ally invested in their work and less fear-ful of failure.
3 Key Benefits of fostering creativity in the workplace include:
Creativity Builds Better Teamwork
Creativity inspires employees to work with each other. The creative process encourages collaboration. Businesses need to encourage the mindset of continuous learning encouraging employees to seek new information, knowledge and new ways to do things.
Many unique ideas come from just one person but they are molded by a team to become fully formed.
Creativity Improves the Ability to Attract and Retain Employees
When creativity is encouraged em-ployees are more content with their jobs and are committed to reaming loyal to the company.
Creativity Increases Problem-Solving
With the ability to think creatively and outside of the box, employees are more likely to come up with unique and innovative solutions to obstacles they encounter. This ea-gerness to solve problems can lead to new ways to accomplish tasks and adds to a more efficiently run busi-ness.
The top skill that CEO’s are looking for in skilled workers is creativity. 60% of CEO’s polled, cited creativity as the most important leadership qual-ity, compared with 52% for integrity. The reason creativity is the most val-ued skill is that it generates a posi-tive impact on the ROI (Return on Investment) and creative people are independent thinkers and innovative with problem-solving.
As a Manager or Business owner in order to foster creativity you need to:
Never Say No When you are in a brainstorming
session, or an employee comes to
you with an idea, “no” sends a nega-tive message. Find ways to redirect the idea so it can become a “yes answer” It is all too easy to turn down an idea because you think it won’t work, muffling the creative thinkers in your workplace means that innova-tion will be stifled and the employees will be less likely to continue to come up with new and smart solutions.
Diversify Your Team A variety of perspectives, insights
and learning styles accelerate the problem-solving process.
The way your team works to-gether is more important than the ideas generated. Ed Catmull, the President of Pixar shares how getting the right team is necessary and that it is better to focus on how the en-tire team is performing collectively together over the individual talents within the team. Catmull emphasizes that “getting the right people and the right chemistry is more important than getting the right idea.”
Creativity increases curiosity and
drives the desire to learn. Feed cre-ativity by asking questions, this builds ideas with help and insight from oth-ers. Having a clear understanding of strategies that encourage creativity and innovation, managers can fos-ter growth among employees and teams.
“Companies who are creative are more successful” Tucker Marion, As-sociate Professor, Northeastern Uni-versity D’Amore-McKim School of Business
Regardless of the industry, there are ways to be creative. For ex-ample, in the retail industry, there are ways you can be creative with low-cost solutions that improve cus-tomer service. I read once that one company slipped a little chocolate with a handwritten thank you on the receipt when the purchase placed in the bag. For a service industry, there are creative ways to improve processes that speed up efficiency while making employees happier.
Do not sell yourself short, even the craziest idea that you think is com-pletely off can often be the one idea that people latch onto. Employees, do not be afraid to share these ideas with your co-workers and managers it will always end up being a win/win for the organization.

The first Jerome County Fair was held in September 1920. The first fair included a judging of produce and animals, baking contests, canning demonstrations, a band concert, and a “Better Baby” Contest sponsored by Red Cross.
The first Jerome County Fair Rodeo was in 1945 and was open to all residents of the North Side area. The first Rodeo Queen contest was also started in 1945.
The Jerome County Fair and Rodeo was blessed to celebrate 100 years in 2020, culminating with a PRCA
ProRodeo Top Five Small Rodeo of the Year nomination.
With a theme of “Join the Fun in ’21,” the 2021 Jerome County Fair will celebrate the ag community and Jerome County’s history August 9-14. This year 4-H will have a full schedule of livestock shows as well as indoor displays. JEROME — Shoveling dirt into the air, repre-sentatives from across Jerome County partici-pated in a groundbreaking ceremony Monday morning.
The currently vacant lot will soon be home to the first of several commercial and industrial buildings, called Northbridge Junction. Near the Flying J Truck Plaza, the location provides easy access to I-84 and Highway 93, said Chris McKay, investor representative.
McKay is with IronVista Development Group, the developer from Utah.

TWIN FALLS — Local officials took another step toward trying to bring a third river crossing to the Magic Valley.
Commissioners from Twin Falls and Jerome counties and Filer and Je-rome highway districts met June 3 at the Twin Falls Visitor Center to sign a joint powers agreement. Through this agreement, the commissioners created a new entity that will allow them to better advocate and push for the project.
While this push for a third river crossing is a lo-cally driven effort, it would turn into a state and federal project due to the costs in-volved.
“We’re taking a big step today of what is the begin-ning of a real long-term, but worthwhile effort,” Je-rome County commission
chairman Ben Crouch said.Twin Falls County com-
mission chairman Jack Johnson called the signing a historic moment for the Magic Valley. While the construction of a possible third river crossing is still
years away, a new crossing would alleviate significant traffic congestion near the Perrine Bridge that is expected to worsen as the area continues to grow.

“This fills a need that isn’t available around here currently,” he said.
Representatives from Je-rome 20/20 Inc., Southern Idaho Economic Develop-ment, Business Plus, Je-rome Chamber of Com-merce, Crossroad Points, and Peterson Brothers Construction were in at-tendance. Jerome County commissioners also at-tended along with Idaho Rep. Laurie Lickley.
The first building will be 79,404 square feet and feature 14 dock-level doors. Construction is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2022. McKay said as soon as the first building reaches 75% oc-cupancy, construction will begin on the next larger building.
The buildings could house light manufactur-ing or distribution and lo-gistics, said Connie Sto-pher, executive director of Southern Idaho Economic Development.
McKay said after the initial construction is completed, the rest of the building will be built ac-cording to tenant requests.
“Every time I think ‘square peg for square hole,’ I’m surprised with all the companies we can offer to,” McKay said.
He said there are plenty of companies that need to be in the area because of local raw materials.
Larry Hall, executive director of Jerome 20/20 Inc., said another unique feature of the project is the leasing ability.
“Often time people don’t have the ability to finance this kind of project,” Hall said.

Identifying a location for the potential bridge is one of the next steps in this process. The Idaho Transportation Depart-
ment Board last month allocated $4 million for a planning and environ-mental linkage study that will examine potential sites for a new crossing.
This study, which could take up to two years to complete, will build off
the work completed in an origin-destination study that ITD will release the final version of soon, ITD District 4 Engineer Jesse Barrus said at the signing.
This previous study ex-amined traffic patterns in the area, and how different
potential bridge locations would affect those traffic flows. According to this study, multiple points of Blue Lakes Boulevard will reach a “level of service” rating of F during peak evening hours by 2040, which is a failing grade.
