� Cllr Sullivan who is the LabourMember for Central ward, has beena councillor for nine years.

During her year in office, Cllr Sullivansaid that she wanted to make sure therole of dockworkers and merchantseamen and women in Liverpool isbetter recognised.

She said: “All the men in my familyworked on the docks and travelled outto sea and I think there needs to bemore acknowledgement of the hugecontribution dockworkers and merchantseamen and women have made to ourcity. That’s something I’m very keen tofocus on during my time in office asLord Mayor. I’m very humbled andhonoured to be nominated as DeputyLord Mayor. It’s the one of the highesthonours that can be bestowed on

anybody who lives in and loves thiscity.”

The full time councillor has a 16-year-old son and her husband, Jacksadly passed away last year.

“I know Jack would have been veryproud of me. I also know that I couldn’thave achieved what I have achieved inlife without him. Ultimately, I am thepeople’s servant – and that will be at theheart of everything I do as Lord Mayor.”

Cllr Sullivan is also a talentedvocalist in her own right. She sang onstage at the Philharmonic Hall with theRoyal Liverpool PhilharmonicOrchestra in 2008 at a special concert tohonour the city’s best pub singers. Shealso scooped the ‘Councillor Idol’ awardin 2009 for her rendition of ColePorter’s ‘Every Time We Say Goodbye,in aid of the Lord Mayor’s charities.

We are lookingforward to having

We saw the knifeblock in Selfridgesbut shoppedaround and paidless from aninternet site. We alsosplashed out andbought a new sofawith a ‘snuggle’ chair,

which fits beautifully inour new lounge.

Our travels are our biggestinterior inspiration. We have

collected a number of picturesand souvenirs during ourtime abroad and it’s greatthat I now have a home to

showcase them in. Thedidgeridoo reminds us of the

time we spent in Australia.

We considered a number ofnew build developments butnothing compared toMontreal Gardens. Some ofthe developments we went toseemed very overcrowded yetMontreal Gardens is much morespacious with plenty of openspaces and off street parking soyou don’t find cars clogging upthe roads. There is also a realmix of people moving in, fromyoung couples like us to familiesand older couples. Everybody isvery friendly and there is alovely community feel.

We both grew up nearby so we werekeen to stay near our families but stillwanted to be close to the buzz of the citycentre and be near the motorway networkso we could have a quick commute towork. Huyton ticked all the boxes plusit’s exciting to see all the changeshappening locally in Stockbridge Village.New shops and cafes are popping upeverywhere and they have just reopenedthe leisure centre, which is great. It reallyfeels like an ‘up and coming area’.

After 15 years in the wilderness pop’s Prince Charming is back. The mosticonic figure of the post punk era Adam Ant – real name Stuart Goddard –

earned global success and a cult following with singles like Antmusic, but inrecent years also hit the headlines for his ongoing battle with depression.

Now raring to stand and deliver he’s about to launch a 14 date tour and playin a string of summer festivals including Rebellion in Blackpool. He reveals

to Your Move what audiences can expect.

What can we expect from Adam Ant ontour in 2011? I haven’t sung for 15 yearsand I’ve established a new band and a newlook. There are three girls, three boys andme. We’re going to play everything frommy repertoire, including some rare stufffrom my early period. I’ve been toLiverpool a number of times, but this isthe first in a long time. I played at Eric’s,when the Human League and TheTeardrop Explodes were around.What happened to the dandy man withthe stripe across his nose? I like to goforward – I’ve got a very low boredomthreshold. I’ve got a new character, theBlueblack Hussar, from the name of myalbum, The Blueblack Hussar in Marryingthe Gunner’s Daughter. He’s the characterwho started in 1980 with a stripe across hisnose and I thought, what would he look like32 years later? He was born as a sort of wartorn character, used to a sort of sartorialcorrectness. I imagine him as a Frenchhussar who walked to Moscow and had afight. He’s older, he’s harder, they killedhim, but he can’t be killed – he’s like theTerminator. He’s me coming back to life. You practically created the NewRomantic movement. What does style

mean to you? Style isn’t about money it’sabout consistency. It’s about wearingsomething no one else is wearing. Peoplethought punk was about safety pins but itwas all over by then. [Dressing up] isescapism for me and the audience. Youneed it. The shirts I wore in 1981 wererepresentations of those worn in theCharge of the Light Brigade in the1790s.I’m releasing a menswear line withPimpernel (a clothing line that specialisesin 18th century inspired pieces) and I’vebeen going to museums in Paris to look atdrawings. I’m taking elements of what Icreated in the past too. You’ve been vocal about your bipolardiagnosis. How has the conditioninfluenced your career? I have a problemwith the term bipolar. I’d rather be nuts.You’ve got to be crazy to do what I do. If youlook at people termed bipolar I can’t thinkof anyone who hasn’t had it who’s any good.You set out to make a success of things butyou don’t quite know what is involved. I wasjust exhausted. I became a cyborg with fleshover the top. It was not having anyonebehind me saying, ‘have a rest now’ and Iended up in a nut house. I am up and downbecause to write songs there has to be darkand light. You have to have passion. MTV voted you sexiest man in Americain 1983. Do you still have that massivefemale following? Not really. It got crazy.I got 60,000 letters a day. Maybe I’ve gotthat to look forward to. I think I’ll be ableto deal with it.

CAREERPlayed bass in Bazooka Joe in 1975, and then

formed a group of his own, The B-Sides,eventually re-assembling as The Ants. Ant

acted in Derek Jarman’s punk film Jubilee in1977 and with his band released first albumDirk Wears White Socks in 1979. In 1980

Kings of the Wild Frontier, sparked Antmaniaacross the UK. Prince Charming with Stand& Deliver enjoyed similar success. The band

split in 1982 and Adam went on to solosuccess with Goody Two Shoes. He hung uphis mic to concentrate on acting in the US,appearing in shows like Northern Exposure

and Tales from the Crypt. In 2006 he releasedhis autobiography, Stand and Deliver, and

2010 marked his return to live music.

So a happy match is madewhen I meet Space residentialsales and lettings managerDebbie Knight at the Bold Streeteaterie to sample its newdishes and ample interior.

Space opened forresidential sales lastyear when a cloud ofgloom still hoveredover the housingmarket.

Why?“We found there was a

niche for an estate agent thatoffered a one stop service forhome finding and selling, andmortgage and legal needs,”explains Debbie.

“We also take care to value ahouse at a realistic price, basedon experience and local

knowledge, to maximise itssales potential.

“And I think we also stand outin the level of service we offer. In13 years of working as an estateagent, I know just how vital goodcommunication is, whether it’svia phone call or even a text oremail. Just keeping in regularcontact – it’s not rocket science,but clients really appreciate it.”

Earlier this year the businessexpanded into the lettings marketand offers a very competitiveproperty management fee of justfive per cent – around half the

average sum.We chat in the newextension of The

Italian Club, lightflooding throughthe Frenchwindows behindus. Owner Rosaria

Crolla has restoredthe ground floor of

her restaurant to itsoriginal splendour. Gold

and white décor with gleamingchandeliers does its elegantdimensions justice, while blackand white snaps and a rusticwhite sofa inject homely charm.

Rosaria created The ItalianClub to bring to Liverpool the

fresh, unfussy dishes that Italiansenjoy when they go out to eat.

My seafood salad starter,Insalata di Mare (£6.75), isuncompromisingly Italian. Abounteous dish of nakedsquid rings, octopustendrils and musselsdoused in vinegar, oiland garlic and servedon salad leaves, itcarried with it a realblast of the sea.Debbie’s starter, Zuppadel Giorno (£3.50) was goodbowl of leek and mushroom soup,drizzled with cream – light, butwholesome.

Over it, mum-of-two Debbie,from Halewood, reveals shespeaks from experience when sheadvises people on moving house.“I’ve moved seven times,” shesays. “That’s the thing about thisjob, you see something and think,‘I can’t let that go, I’ll move’.”

And there’s plenty to inspireher.

“It’s never the same one day tothe next,” she says. “You can gofrom looking at a two up twodown one day to a footballer’shouse the next. I feel very luckyto be doing something I love.”

Debbie’s main was Pollo

Milanese (£9.95), a classic dish ofthinly beaten, breadcrumb-coatedchicken breast served with curlyfries and salad.

“I like a big plate ofgrub to tuck into,” she

says approvingly. “Ihate it when youget a huge platewith a tiny bit offood in the middleof it. The chicken

is moist and thebreadcrumb coating

is crispy and very tasty.” The Italian Club’s

expansion has enabled it tointroduce a new pizza menu. I’vechosen a Signor Maurizio pizza(£7.50) – named in honour of therestaurant’s Italian chef – toppedwith tomato, mozzarella, Parmaham and fresh basil. It’s exactlyhow I like my pizza and just howthey bake them in Rome, with athin base and the merest whisperof tomato sauce.
