Dear Friends and Family,It was on an August morning of 1949 when our founder Diogenis Venetopoulos -a Greek historian- observed the Aegean Sea un-der a clear blue sky, imagining a home away from home at Sea. Three generations later Variety Cruises has grown into an award winning leader of small ship cruises world-wide, with 11 state-of-the-art SOLAS certified yachts hosting no more than 71 guests. They say “dream big”… we say “why measure a dream?”.

With over 300 ports of call, and over 10,000 guests spanning our 50 years at Sea, Variety Cruises is a natural playground of syn-chronicity and adventure. 2019 marks an exciting year ahead as we remain faithful to our treasured traditions and values, while at the same time pointing our compass towards exciting new coordinates, including the Caribbean, Bali, Borneo, our exciting return to Egypt, Israel & Jordan, as well as our long anticipated return of the Aegean Odyssey. We stay faithful to our promise of listening to your wishes, and so we have officially extended the travel season to Greece with the addition of our mini cruises among others, making it a year round destination.

We aim to create positive change through our operations and set standards for the global tourism industry, as we enter a new era of travel, driven by sustainability. Unlike larger ships that use non refined heavy fuel oil -which once leaked into the water is almost impossible to restore back to clean- we will insist on our campaign for an international ban on heavy fuel oil, taking pride in our ships running on Marine Diesel oil. We will continue reducing plastic waste by inviting our guests and staff to collectively explore the planet on a safer, greener fleet, recently having completed the first phase of our Single Use Plastic Reduction program across our fleet with an end goal of eliminating single use plastic on board all our vessels by the end of 2019, hoping to set an industry example.

We don’t take the open arms of the communities we visit for granted, who generously share their landscapes, infrastructure, re-sources, language, traditions, culture & heritage for us to explore & enjoy; so in return we minimize our impact and footprint, while supporting the local communities, by sourcing local goods and services, from local market fresh produce, to experienced local tour guides, in turn providing our guests rich authentic experiences. We furthermore thrive from diversity and thus train and employ local teams on board our vessels, staying true to our global approach & philosophy.

Last but not least, we have joined forces with PHILOX Project a US based non-profit specializing in the education and support of youth in distress in the destinations we visit, in our continued promise to systematically develop our Variety Cares foundation. We remain committed to the Lamin Koto Prototype School in The Gambia, an internally funded company initiative, that now provides education infrastructure to over 100 children. We additionally support multiple locally handpicked noteworthy causes including refugee hotspots in our home-base Greece, among others.

We cordially invite you to celebrate life by joining Variety Cruises on your next yacht adventure and to break bread with like mind-ed fellow travelers with old and new friends. Please visit our new and revamped intuitive website, a natural playground for small ship cruise connoisseurs, or reach out to our team of local experts and worldwide partners available to walk you through your next yacht cruise adventure today. And remember… you are the Captains of your destiny, we just get you there in comfort & safety.

Minimizing our impact

At Home at SeaVariety Cruises has been operating and exploring the Greek seas since 1968. Today, half a century later, our fleet of 11 small ships explores oceans across 4 continents, from Iceland to West Africa, from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean and Indonesia. We put great effort into enhancing our environmental initiatives and running a responsible, sustainable operation, by

adhering as much as possible to environmentally-friendly business practices

MONITORING OUR IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENTOur ships run on Marine Diesel Oil, unlike larger ships that use non refined Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO)

which is non-refined, polluting and highly toxic. We will be campaigning for a full international

REDUCING PLASTIC WASTESingle-Use Plastic Reduction: One of our guiding principles is to positively impact the areas in

which we explore. That is why we are proud to have successfully completed a single-use plastic reduction program across our entire fleet, minimizing single-use plastic items. Such items include straws, stirrers, cups, lids, bottled water, among other items, as well as items wrapped in plastic;

single-portion items such as butter cups, jams or yogurt. The first ships to have become completely single-use plastic free are the M/S Panorama II operating in Southeast Asia as of December 2018. Our goal is to completely eliminate single-use plastics on board all our vessels in phases within

2019. Our hope is that our actions will prompt other cruise operators to do the same

Reusable water bottles in each cabin for guest use on board and on shore: We have removed plastic bottles on board for guest and staff use, and replacing them with reusable 750 ml bottles, for transfer of water and beverages. With a cap made from bamboo and the bottle itself made of

stainless steel and 100% non-toxic. Without color and without plastic, this is an eco-friendly solution to reduce waste on board our ships and on shore at the destinations our guests and our crew visit.

Variety Cruises’ policy on Garbage Management is fully aligned with IMO Regulations and MARPOL (Maritime Pollution Legislation), for the reduction of waste generation, both operational

waste from ships (through the MARPOL Convention) and dumping of wastes under the London Convention and Protocol (LC/LP). For garbage and several other types of waste generated on board ships, MARPOL requires port States to provide adequate reception facilities for the safe

and sound management of wastes.

With UN Sustainable Development Goals as a framework, and a mission focused on innovation and concrete measures, sustainability and green ethics sits at the core of the Variety Cruises

Operations at sea and on shore.

RESPONSIBLE TOURISM: GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITIES WE ENCOUNTERIt is our philosophy to embrace local communities and provide resources to the local industries we visit with the dual mission of providing our guests an authentic local experience as well as to support the communities sharing with us their landscapes, nature, culture, and in-frastructure. We source local services in-cluding excursions, guides, tour leaders, agriculture products and local resourc-es. In addition sourcing local food and supplies from the local seasonal markets allows for an authentic local experience with fresh cuisine and handicraft prod-ucts. Last but not least we support local cultures by employing local teams on-board our vessels at every opportunity, sustaining our culture of diversity and our global philosophy.

Small Groups VoyagesOur ships are also perfect for affinity groups, family reunion groups of 15 to 24 passengers not large enough to charter a ship on private basis, organized by travel specialists or directly by nonprofit organizations and membership clubs. These groups can join other fellow passengers on a scheduled cruise departure but can still organize their own private on-board or excursions program. Group organizers take cabin blocks on any of our scheduled cruise sailings operated.

THE VARIETY FOUNDATIONVARIETY CARES™

TO TRAVEL IS TO IMMERSE YOURSELF…

VARIETY CARES™ AT THE GAMBIA, WEST AFRICAAfter identifying a valuable opportunity in THE GAMBIA through a local request from our crew, guests, and leadership to support a town with a missing school infrastructure VARIETY CARES™ had its first immersive charitable project developed by building a functioning school for 100 local children providing the first steps to a strong education system. The operating school is currently in further development entitled THE LAMIN KOTO SUPERSCHOOL, offering a rich educational experience while using GENERATOR PROJECTED FILM EDUCATION as a tool for benefiting the community through a global education. THE LAMIN KOTO SUPERSCHOOL operates as our first fully pledged charity project with future plans for additional education structures world-wide based on the existing prototype. Additionally we are involved with pre-existing causes in destinations where we find the infrastructure is in place while

requiring some additional support.

VARIETY CARES™ will either become involved with a local pre-existing foundation, or help build

the infrastructure for a cause essential to the wellbeing of the communities we visit. The

great thing is every destination needs a small boost, whether financial or

supportive in terms of our available time and know

how. With each exchange of communication we

take in some ways, and so we give back

in others.

MISSION STATEMENTOur mission is to provide a sustainable sea-going platform for engaging our guests in meaningful communication and

exchange of values with the local communities we visit.

From as early as 1949, during the inception years of what today has evolved into VARIETY CRUISES -an award winning pioneer and leader of small ship cruises- we have been firm believers in providing a platform for cultural immersion, not

mere yacht cruise experiences.

From day one we have gone a long way from being involved with supporting archaeological sites we visit, to more recently

developing and building from scratch our first functioning school structure in West Africa. Our internal team along with

our travelers explore the most worthy and exciting causes per destination visited, and immerse ourselves in a win-

win collaboration and exchange of resources, knowledge, experience, and skills with those communities.

The VARIETY CARES™ model engages our small ships as a cultural exchange

platform meaningfully connecting our guests from around the globe with

the local communities, many of them having had limited experience of

incoming tourism, which heightens our social responsibility in addition to deepening the

visitors leisure component.

Our formula involves Engaging (with the

communities) + Identifying (valuable

existing causes or emerging

opportunities) + Developing (a

strategy to sustain and/or grow these causes) = Creating

(Immersive Play experiences for all

involved).
