Everyone is an athlete; Some of us are training,
some of us are not!
Welcome to the starting Line!
Hardest step for a beginner is the one out of the door! You Seem to have already taken that!
• Yes we are!
• Running is for everyone….
• All runners are not seeking Olympic gold
Are we born to run ?
For every runner who tours the world running marathons, there are thousands who run to hear the leaves and listen to the rain! And that’s where we beginners belong!
• Start by doing what is necessary;
• Then do what’s possible
• And suddenly you are doing the impossible!!!
How did I start running?
DO NOT
• get intimidated by other runners• bother how u look while running • hesitate to walk• get caught in the jargon! (The Pace,
The Time, The VO2max and suchlike!) • Do not fuss over the shoes and
accessories • Do not overdo
Make a beginning
A journey of thousand steps ……
• Find a partner/buddy, start slow
• Pace is not important, continuous movement is
• 20 min of moving time 3 times a week is good enough to get you on the path
REMEMBER! Any exercise you do is better than the
exercise that you don’t do!
• Get a decent pair of shoes
• Pay attention to your form
• Do not ignore pain
• 3 R – Rehydrate, Refuel, Rest
Important tips
Run early in the morning, before your brain figures out what you really are doing.
• Eat a small snack within 30 min of your run
• Thumb Rule – Carbs for Energy, Protein for recovery
• Fat is Good – quality over quantity!
