Who is my Neighbor? One day, a lawyer asked Jesus

what is the greatest commandment of all

Jesus answered by saying, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself”

But the lawyer then asked “Who is my neighbor?”

Who is my Neighbor? Is our neighbor simply the

person who lives next to us?What does God mean when

he tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves?

Jesus answered the lawyer’s question by giving a parable (a story)

Page 5: You shall love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:31)

A man was going down

from Jerusalem to Jericho.

Page 6: You shall love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:31)

And on his way there, robbers caught up with

him.

Page 7: You shall love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:31)

They stripped him

of his clothes, beat

him, and went away, leaving him half dead.

The man desperately needed help,

and three people

passed by him.

Page 9: You shall love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:31)

A priest happened

to be going

down the same

road, and when he saw the

man,

he passed by on the

other side.

So too, a Levite,

when he came to the place and saw

him,

he passed by on the other side.

But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where

the man was;

and when he saw him,

He took pity on him

Page 12: You shall love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:31)

He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him

to an inn and took care of him.

Who is my Neighbor? After Jesus told the story, He

asked the lawyer who acted like the poor man’s neighbor?

The lawyer answered correctly and said that the Samaritan man would be considered a neighbor.

The Lord told the lawyer to go and do like the Good Samaritan man who took care of the wounded man
