FAMILY SCULPTURE WORKSHOP: POPPIES MEMENTO 29+30.10.15 / 10.30–12.00 & 13.30–15.00 £3.50 (suitable for age 7+) In response to Poppies: Wave, work with paper and wire to sculpt your own poppy seed head with textile artist Harriet Lawton – celebrating the poppy and our collective sense of memento.

FESTIVE TREE DECORATION MAKING 29.11.15 / 10.30–12.30 & 13.30–15.30 / £4, supervising adults free (suitable for all ages) Taking inspiration from the flora and foliage of YSP, create your own seasonal tree decorations with a blend of beautiful natural and festive materials to take home.

FAMILY SCULPTURE WORKSHOP: GLOW SPACES 05.12.15 / 11.00–16.00 / Free / Drop in (suitable for all ages) Drop in with all the family and transform spaces into an ever-changing glowing installation with artist Van Nong.

SCULPTURAL STORIES 20.12.15 / 11.00–12.30 & 13.30–15.00 £5 (designed for age 5+, under 5s welcome to attend) Join performer Natalie Bellingham for an imaginative and interactive storytelling adventure. Together, discover the stories of the sculptures at YSP and be inspired to create tales of your own.

FAMILY SCULPTURE WORKSHOP: BIG AND SMALL 09+10.02.16 & 16+17.02.16 / 10.30–12.30 & 13.30–15.30 / £3 Make small individual sculptures out of wood, clay and plaster, imagining them as huge, monumental works. Once complete, place against different backdrops to compare how it looks in a city setting, rural landscape or even another planet.

FAMILY SCULPTURE WORKSHOP: PAPER WAVES 18.10.15, 15.11.15 + 13.12.15 / 11.00–16.00 £2 (suitable for age 5+) Meet artist and designer Harriet Lawton to explore the creative uses of paper, discovering its sculptural, fragile qualities in response to Poppies: Wave.

FAMILY SCULPTURE WORKSHOP: THE BIG 3DOODLER DRAW 24.10.15 / 10.00, 11.00, 12.00, 14.00, 15.00 & 16.00 / £2 (suitable for age 6+) Join GoPrint3D for a workshop to explore the world’s first 3D printing pen, combining the traditional techniques of drawing with the sculptural possibilities of plastic, inspired by Bob and Roberta Smith: Art For All.

LEARNING TOGETHER: FREE PLAYFUL FAMILY WORKSHOPS 24.10.15 + 07.11.15 / various times, please see the website for details / Free Families are invited to join our artists to explore sculptures in the Park, their connections to each other and to the world around them. Create your own family sculpture which celebrates all your discoveries.

FAMILY SCULPTURE WORKSHOP: MY SCULPTURAL SKETCHBOOK 27+28.10.15 / 10.30–12.30 & 13.30–15.30 £2 (suitable for age 6+) Come and join in The Big Draw to make an individual fold-out, cut-up, add-to, tear-out sketchbook. Inspired by the YSP landscape, fill your sketchbook with drawings of sculptures, people, trees, clouds… it’s up to you!

THE DARKTOWN MUSEUM OF CURIOS: A LINOCUTTING WORKSHOP WITH JONNY HANNAH 14.11.15 / 10.00–16.00 / £80, concessions £75 (suitable for age 16+) To celebrate Jonny Hannah’s exhibition in YSP Centre, join us for a linocutting and print workshop guiding you through the various processes and techniques needed to make your own linocut, based on the theme ‘curious subjects’.

NEEDLE FELTING POOCHES WITH VON ALLEN 28.11.15 / 10.00–16.00 / £80, concessions £75 (suitable for age 16+) With instruction and support from artist Von Allen, construct your very own pooch using traditional needle felting techniques. Choose different combinations of coloured wools and glass eyes to bring your pooch’s character to life.

THE DARKTOWN MUSEUM OF CURIOS: A MASK MAKING WORKSHOP WITH JONNY HANNAH 27.02.16 / 10.00–12.00 & 13.00–15.00 Adults £20, children (5+) £15 Prepare to be transported into Hannah’s imaginary world – Darktown – using only a brown carrier bag, pens, paint, glue and paper. Be inspired by the world to create facemasks based on the Darktown shopkeepers and characters.

(R)EVOLUTION SEMINAR 17.10.15 / 14.00–17.00 / £5, students free (suitable for 16+) (R)EVOLUTION is the centrepiece of NAEA’s 30th year celebrations and aims to trace NAEA’s history and significance from its foundation in 1985 to the present day. The seminar includes presentations, along with informal Q&A sessions and an open forum.

POPPIES: WAVE – PAUL CUMMINS IN CONVERSATION 19.11.15 / 19.00 / £6 Join artist Paul Cummins in conversation with YSP’s Director of Programme, Clare Lilley. They will discuss the creative journey of the installation Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red – originally at HM Tower of London in 2014 – and Wave, now at YSP as part of a UK-wide tour of the iconic poppy sculptures, organised by 14-18 NOW.

STEP INSIDE: AN EXPERTS GUIDE TO MAIN STREET WITH JONNY HANNAH 28.02.16 / 13.30–14.30 / Adults £10 (suitable for 16+) Hear Jonny Hannah discuss his influences and inspiration for his YSP exhibition, along with a thousand other things including: his new book Fast Cars & Ukuleles; the French poet Arthur Rimbaud; French film director Jacques Tourneur; and his love of shoes. He will also show film clips, play some music and may even read you a poem or two.

Fully immerse yourself in Hannah’s world: sit back and relax at specially designed tables, drink artist-designed beer and enjoy a hearty three-course meal curated by Hannah, with each course inspired by his work.

MARTINO GAMPER: POST FORMA 26+27.10.15 / 11.00–16.00 / Free British Art Show 8 designer Martino Gamper previews his exciting new Post Forma project. Visitors are invited to bring in belongings to transform rather than throw away. Commissioned by Yorkshire Festival and Hayward Touring, in partnership with Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle and Arts Council England’s Strategic Touring Programme.

DEAD SYMPHONY 14.11.15 / 17.30 / Adults £12, concessions and YSP Members £10 A live, immersive sound and light performance, created by award-winning artist Saskia Moore and played by UK ensemble Apartment House, that asks the question: what does near death sound like?

EXPLORING THE ELEMENTS: MEDITATION AND ART 29.11.15 & 19.03.16 / 13.00 / Adults £10 A workshop combining meditation and creative art activities inspired by the YSP landscape and the work of Bill Viola, which often explores key themes of the transformation of the self, inner revelations and profound human experiences.
