Morocco Yoga Retreat

13-17th of September 2013

Yin/Yang Yoga RetreatThe placeMarrakech is just a few hours away from London but its exotic, warm, sunshine and heart warming. One of my favourite places to visit.

Easy to get to from all London airports and from Copenhagen Airport.

September in Morocco sees average day-time temperatures in their late 20s or early 30s celcius and an average eight hours' sunshine.

Yet Hotel Tigmi offers plenty of shady spots to escape from the heat: two swimming pools and numerous shady terraces.

The YogaOn the roof terrace, with Atlas mountain views

I will guide the group through two daily 90-minute yoga classes on the covered roof terrace, with its panoramic Atlas mountain and countryside views.

The dynamic vinyasa flow morning class will be before breakfast, while the gentler early evening session will take place at before dinner.

The later yoga sessions will be more relaxing and restorative/meditative in nature, integrating elements from Yoga Nidra, Restorative yoga and meditation.

Both classes will be suitable for people of all yoga experience and backgrounds. Please see right-hand column for more on the daily schedule.

During the course of the retreat we will also enjoy an extra workshop: Alignment, Structure and a Firm Foundation: exploring common postures through adjustments, modifications and a little playful partnerwork.

Where we stayBoutique Hotel TigmiHotel Tigmi is only 30 minutes from the evocative city of Marrakech, yet nestles in a super-peaceful setting, near the foothills of the Atlas mountains.

This rustic-chic hideaway is somewhere between a Riad and a boutique hotel.

Meandering corridors and tucked-away courtyards hide a stunning collection of rooms, terraces, gardens and two swimming pools. This landscape of banana palms, cirtus trees and bougainvillea radiates sunlight and warmth . There i s space and qu iet in abundance.

Each of the impressively large rooms is beautifully, and individually decorated with handcrafted Berber furnishings, cushions, covers and wall hangings - a true retreat.

Open fireplaces, luxurious shampoo and body products complete the feeling that you are somewhere very special indeed.

Enjoy the place Free time, rest and relaxation - or shopping in Marrakech

There will be plenty of time for sunbathing, rest, and relaxation! Between breakfast and the late afternoon yoga session, your time is your own.

Should you feel the urge to explore the evocative city of Marrakech, take advantage of the hotel's free minibus service to and from Marrakech.

On the other hand, you may well decide to stay relaxing at Tigmi for the duration of your stay.

The last minibus of the day leaves the city in the early evening, and delivers you back to Hotel Tigmi safetly in time for dinner!

Massages and treatmentsHotel Tigmi has its own beautiful hammam. The spa is for the use of guests only, and boasts a pool and steam bath, as well as treatment rooms.

The resident therapist uses authentic Moroccan skincare products containing indigenous herbs, fruits and oils.

Treatments are not included in the cost of this retreat and must be booked directly with the hotel.

Looking forward to guide your yoga practiseabout meI have practised yoga since the late 1990s. I tried it and fell in love immediately. Since then I tried many styles: meditative Satyananda Yoga which still inspires me, Vinyasa Flow with teachers such as Seane Corn who I also trained with, Shiva Rea’s Prana Flow and more alignment based Iyengar yoga teachers like my inspired teacher Barbara Harding.

Yoga is a way of life to me - getting aligned physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

I teach Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Pregnancy and Postnatal Yoga in London (Streatham, KX gym in Chelsea, L!FE in Shoreditch, Light Centre in Moorgate) and you can find me in various magazines (Om Yoga Magazine, Yoga Magazine) and online.

Have a look at this video on www.youtube.com/anjayoga for an introduction to yoga and my classes and visit www.yogaembodied.com for more information.

about the yogaThe classes are inspired by Vinyasa Flow Yoga. Moving consciously from one pose to the next guided by breath. We will stay in the poses to understand alignment and structure and I wish to the classes to encourage people to feel empowered regardless of how long they have practised.

The yoga is an inspired combination of physical dynamic movement, breath and meditative practice integrating creative sequencing and safe alignment.
