For already the 15th time the Windisch Road in Weimar is immersed in a sea of blue colors.

Every year, on the last day before the summer holidays,

invite dealers t o "Blue Hour" a , a street f estival f or

young and o ld. From 1 9:00 v isitors can admire the

decorated with blue balloons, blue booths, lots of blue

flowers and candles road. Various attractions of music,

theater, c lowning and d ance, a re o ffered.

Visitors t hen b e awarded t o 22 c lock a ppearing in t he

most beautiful blue costume. The special charm and the

unique atmosphere c reated o n this e vening b y the

diverse attractions and o f course visitors. Meanwhile

this Sommernachtsfest in Weimar is a fixed date in the

calendar for many citizens and visitors.

The bread flap in Weimar, Trierer Straße 46, is a new star in the sky Weimar bread. Sebastian Lück is not

the dreamy dropouts, t he o ne m ight expect a fter such a p roject. After several successful p rojects in other sectors, the qualified businessman has opened

a few years ago to s ave good b read. With h is w ife

Annika h e has opened t he fi rst bread fl ap a fter 5

years learning a nd e xperimenting in E rfurt, w ho i s

now in Weimar, the second store followed. Since we

are lucky! It is open Friday to Monday from 15.00 to

20.00. I n the afternoon, t here a re sandwiches and

very tempting cakes and 17.00 are the bread ready for

collection, w hich h ave been p referably pre. O n the

question of w hy i s only open t hree d ays, S ebastian

gap r esponds a s expected: "Good products n eed

time,

especially o ur b read w e need t he r est to

The beginnings of t he B auhaus-Universität Weimar

can be traced back to the 19th century. Originally an

art academy, it was enlarged after 1945 to include a

number o f engineering disciplines w hich g ave the

university a modern t echnical c haracter. With t he

inclusion of the Faculty of Art and Design, founded in

1993, and the Faculty of Media, founded in 1996, the

Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has once again coupled

the fields of art and engineering into one institution

and has been carrying the name of the famous school

of design since 1996. Originally created by students,

the Bauhaus Walking Tour project is a n extremely

successful and i ntegral part o f Weimar’s c ultural

landscape. The tour guides, all of whom are prospec-

tive a rchitects, c ivil e ngineers, cultural scholars o r

artists, show visitors what it means to them to study,

learn, live and have fun at this unique university with

its eventful history.

Katrin is a young conceptual artist from Weimar. She will talk about her work, but also about special places and tips in Weimar.

Katrin Steiger was born i n 1982 i n Schmalkalden,

Germany. In 2012 she received a Master of Fine Arts

in media art and media design with an emphasis on

conceptual art at the Bauhaus–University.

Her works are generally in d irect relation to h erself

and explore the space as a stage. Self-presentation,

performative i nteraction a nd g ood “Gastgebertum"

are important attributes of her current work.

Since 2013 she teaches as an artistic assistant and

lecturer a t the chair M edia, Trend a nd P ublic

Appearance at the Bauhaus–University in Weimar.

Katrin Steiger works and lives in Berlin, Germany.

In so-called board rooms to personalities of classical

Weimar t o conviviality and e xchange met. T he

launched b y Goethe " Freitagsgesellschaft" m et

temporarily in Wittumspalais. After the death of the

Duchess, the building was not inhabited permanent-

ly. It primarily served as guest quarters and a meeting

place of the Masonic lodge "Amalia".
