Our VisionDear Valued Partner,

On behalf of the YMGE Secretariat and Staff, it is my pleasure to invite you to be a sponsor for the fourth session of Yale Model Government Europe 2014. Our 2013 Sponsorship Program brought our sponsors to over 300 top students from 24 countries spanning 4 continents. This year 500 delegates and their advisors are expected to attend the conference. By sponsoring YMGE, you will take advantage of this opportunity to showcase your business to a large group of potential customers. You will assume an active role in promoting education among youth about international affairs and government.

Yale Model Government Europe (YMGE) is a four-day long conference hosted in Budapest, Hungary from November 27 - November 30, 2014. Over 500 students and educators from 30 countries, including the Americas, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa are expected to attend the 2014 session. The conference is a hybrid of the best of both American and European Model United Nations conferences. Delegates are placed into a parliament, European government, or supranational body to discuss and solve issues that pertain to the future of Europe and the rest of the world.

Your organization will benefit in a number of ways from the sponsorship of this conference. You will have a privileged position to both introduce and promote your products and services to our conference attendees, who represent the next generation of global scholars and leaders. We will give you numerous options to publicize your company though our promotion of the conference worldwide.

What is YMGE?In its fourth session, Yale Model Government Europe (YMGE) is the only crisis-based Model United Nations conference on the high school circuit. YMGE combines an innovative crisis committee model with the prestige and focus of the Yale Model UN tradition to create an unparalleled, academically stimulating conference in the historic center of a modern European capital. Over the course of the four-day conference, delegates will engage in debates concerning international politics and global citizenship, meet with other students from across the world and acquire invaluable communication skills for their future endeavors.

YMGE and the Yale International Relations Association A new and innovative conference, YMGE draws on the distinctive background and expertise of its parent organization, the Yale International Relations Association (YIRA), which is on consultative status with the United Nations. As one of the largest undergraduate organizations at Yale University, YIRA organizes a wide range of programs and initiatives aimed at furthering knowledge and debate on global affairs.

YIRA’s flagship conference, Yale Model United Nations, now in its forty first session, brings 1500 high school students to New Haven, CT to debate contemporary global policy issues. YIRA now runs three international conferences: Yale Model Government Europe, Yale Model United Nations China, Yale Model United Nations Korea, and Yale Model United Nations Taipei. Each year YIRA also hosts one of the nation’s premier collegiate crisis conferences, the Security Council Simulation at Yale.

Past dignitaries at the YIRA Speaker Series include Kofi Annan, Anna Vedouta, and Jolyon Howorth. The Model UN Team at Yale (MUNTY), another YIRA program, ranks number one worldwide. Each semester YIRA organizes several student-led political research trips to domestic and international destinations. Previous trips have engaged leaders in Cuba, the Balkans, the Philippines, NATO, Westminster, and the United Nations. Through Hemispheres, a community service project that pairs Yale undergraduates with New Haven youths, YIRA members educate the community about global affairs.

The Yale International Relations Association is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

“I would say the integrated crisis system [at YMGE] was the best part about the conference. I liked it because I liked the fast-paced debate... I also hadn’t been to a conference that ran crises like this before.”

Giving Opportunities: Delegation SponsorshipIn the current economic climate, some schools are unable to attend YMGE due to financial constraints. In accordance with YIRA’s mission to extend educational opportunities in international relations to all students, YMGE makes individualized accommodations for delegations with demonstrated financial need. Nevertheless, these efforts are not always enough.

Corporate sponsors are essential to bridge the gap between demonstrated need and YMGE aid, providing the necessary financial means to ensure that education in international relations and global citizenship is accessible to all students.

Through the Delegation Sponsorship program, YMGE aims to extend the MUN tradition to a socially and economically diverse group of students with the help of its corporate partners. YMGE can facilitate contact between interested sponsors, delegations requiring financial assistance, and other key stakeholders in order to realize the aspirations of these gifted students.

Do not hesitate to contact us for more details about the program.
