Yelp Comes To The Philippines!Yelp, the American multinational from San Francisco, California has introduced its services in the Philippines. The Yelp mobile app and website is available for use for the Philippines, starting June 25th.

Founded in 2004, Yelp develops and markets Yelp.com and the Yelp mobile app which has reviews published for local businesses. It can also be used to find events, lists and used as an online reservation service. It uses an automated software to recommend the most reliable reviews. It can be accessed via iPhone, Android or through the web.

Yelp earns most of its money from ads. These are mostly sold to local businesses and labeled Yelp Ads on the site. Visitors for Yelp primarily drives the revenue of the company. The number of unique monthly visitors was close to 142 million (Q1, 2015). The company expects to monetize the international market and achieve a revenue of $1 billion by the end of 2017.

The Filipino version of yelp is addressed ashttp://yelp.com.ph. People from the Philippines now would be able to read reviews and create accounts on the website to share their opinions. The free apps would be for users as well as for business owners (http://biz.yelp.com.ph/).

As said in theyelp official blog, Philippines, a country with more than 100 million people, 7107 islands and 23 active volcanoes, becomes the 32nd international market to join Yelp. Yelp is available in both English and Filipino, making it the 18th language available for Yelp.

Philippines, one of the most modern countries in southeast Asia, has a large number of English speakers. It is the sixth largest English speaking country. It has a lot of diversity due to centuries of trade with Indian, Chinese, Malay and Islamic cultures bringing the variety. It is a tech savvy, with people sending more than a billion text messages in a day.

The Filipinos are dedicated to food. Be it the budget bites at carinderias or turo turos, or a full-fledged fiesta feast with lechon, caldereta, the countrys wide mix of influences come together beautifully in the cuisine. The hospitality in the country means that wherever one goes, theyd be met with a big smile.

Miriam Warren, the Vice President of New Markets for Yelp said, Filipinos are so well-connected online and offline that we know they will love using Yelp to find and connect with great local businesses. We will be working hard to make sure Yelp is the most useful and relevant local resource for every Pinoy. The Yelp communitys efforts will begin in the Manila, the capital city. One of the densest cities in the world, Manila would be an ideal place for Yelpers to start sharing their opinion and to experience the best in Manila. In a city so humid, customers can find thousands of ways to keep cool by logging in tohttp://yelp.com.phor downloading the mobile app. Business owners can also get into the act by claiming their local business page for free (http://biz.yelp.com.ph/). Yelp will soon be available throughout the country, so anyone having access to internet on a smartphone or a PC can share the opinion on what is great (or not) in the Philippines.

With Yelp trying to expand throughout Asia, acquisitions such as Zomato might be useful for an increase in the market capitalization. A restaurant discovery site founded in 2008, Zomato has expanded its trade in 22 different countries. They have access to over 10,000 cities and could Yelp expand their trade to the countries where Zomato works.Yelps current set of businesses, with newer acquisitions would definitely increase the gross revenues of the company.
