Check out this Pinot Grigio delight from the Veneto area of Italy. It is a real well crafted, richly textured (as far as Pinot Grigios go) dry white that tastes more expensive than it is. Medium bodied and very flavorful with a nice long finish (aftertaste). Great as an aperitif or with salads, fish, chicken, etc. 14.99 Italy. Another beauty from the fantastic estate of Tenuta Montanello. This 100% Nebbiolo classic comes from the Langhe area of Piemonte where the famed Barolo and Barbaresco come from. This medium-full bodied dry red has no oak aging to it. The color is a beautiful dark cherry. Very pretty nose of cherry and a dash of rose petal. On the palate the wine is fresh and lively with a very elegant finish. All the trademarks of great Nebbiolo. Don’t let the price fool you. This is a very serious wine here. I had a bottle opened for three days and it tasted wonderful. Matches well with pasta of course, but equally great with all roasted meats as well. TENUTA MONTANELLO LANGHE NEBBIOLO 11.99 MOCALI I PIAGGIONI ROSSO TOSCANO Italy. This is a nice, little, unknown, smart buy that shouldn’t be overlooked. Mocali is known for making some incredible Brunello Di Montalcinos. Though this is not Brunello, this 100% Sangiovese from Montalcino kind of gets you there for a fraction of the price. It is a medium to full- bodied dry red. Well put together, so to speak, between the fruit, acidity and tannins. A Tuscan Red of balance. Enjoy with roasted meats and Rocky Mountain oysters. 9.99 MOHUA SAUVIGNON BLANC New Zealand. From the land of Kiwis comes this juicy medium-bodied dry white wine. There is no oak aging to this wine so as to keep it fresh and lively. This vibrant white has all the typical zesty citrus flavors that one expects to find with New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs along with a long full finish. Comes from the famous Marlborough area located in the northern part of the southern island. Enjoy this with seafood and pork dishes. PAVILLON DE CHAVANNES COTE DE BROUILLY AMBASSADES France. Ahhhh. Another beauty from the Beaujolais region. This is not your average Beaujolais here, my friends. No, no. This is from Cote De Brouilly which has been granted Cru status. Quite simply: one of the best areas (and smallest of the Crus) in Beaujolais. Also this is their best wine that they make. Cuveé e Des Ambassades is from only their finest and oldest parcels and is served in every French Embassy. Yes it is that good. Made from 100% Gamay grapes, this medium bodied dry red is great with pork & chicken and can be served slightly chilled. 16.99 DOMAINE COURBIS SYRAH France. From the famed Cornas producer in the Northern Rhone comes this beautiful and compelling 100% Syrah wine. The fruit for this wine is all estate grown. It comes mainly from their Saint Joseph Vineyards. Right there you are getting super high pedigree without the high price tag. This full bodied immensley flavorful dry red packs a lot of WOW factor. Dark color, intense nose of brambly dark fruits, and some coffee notes. There’s such a wonderful depth and texture to the wine that just stays with you. This is the cat’s meow! You know what I mean jelly bean? 13.99 12.99 CAMBRIA CHARDONNAY California. Hailing from Santa Maria Valley in the northern part of Santa Barbara, which is fantastic for growing Chardonnay. Full-bodied and dry with a fairly rich mouthfeel. The wine is oak aged which imparts a little hint of vanilla. Have it with lobster, chicken and salmon. LES ANGES SAUVIGNON BLANC France. The Loire area of France is such a wonderful place to grow Sauvignon Blanc. It’s famous for Sancerre, but there are so many other Sauv Blancs that deliver the goods without spending a lot; Les Anges is one of them. This is a traditional Sauv Blanc. No oak. Good fruit. Good acidity and minerality as well. A touch of citrus flavors can be found here but not as much as a New Zealand style. Delicious wine. Super price point. What more can you ask for! 7.99 CAMBRIA BENCHMARK PINOT NOIR California. This is an excellent Pinot Noir that has been delivering “The Goods” for many a year. Very high quality fruit is obviously used to make this medium-bodied, dry, silky red. The classic flavors of cherry and spice can be found with a little toasted oak. A well put together Pinot. 16.99 TERRAZAS MALBEC Argentina. What’s hot these days? Malbec, baby, and this one’s a dandy. The grapes for this wine are grown at a high altitude, which makes for a more balanced and structured wine because the cool nights keep the fruit from becoming overripe. This full-bodied dry red is drinking great. It is nice and mellow with plenty of flavor. Great with pork, chicken, red meats and with Bill Clinton too. 8.99 PRINCIPESSA GAVI Italy. This light, clean, crisp, dry white originates in the town of Gavi, in Piemonte. The grape in this wine is called Cortese. It’s similar to a Pinot Grigio, but with a little more minerality. There is no oak aging to the wine. Enjoyable by itself or with pasta, seafood, and chicken. 11.99 7.99 DANTE DI FIORENZA CHIANTI Italy. What a breath of fresh air Dante Di Fiorenza Chianti is. What I mean by this is that it is just a real solid dollar value Chianti. A very simple straight forward, drink-me-now kind of Chianti. It doesn’t make you think too hard about it. It’s not supposed to. It’s just an everyday wine for those everyday dishes like pizza, pasta and burgers. Medium-bodied and dry with good fruit and an enjoyable finish. You can’t really ask for more than that on something so modestly priced. 10.99 WYATT CABERNET SAUVIGNON California. By far, one of the best bangs for your buck California Cabs that you can buy. In my opinion, this wine over-delivers. Ripe, round, juicy, smooth, balanced and seductive. That’s right, seductive. It will seduce you out of your money and leave you drooling on the floor for another bottle. You have been warned. 9.99 France. Here’s a nice little change from Pinot Grigio or any other dry white for that matter. The grape variety, Pinot Blanc, produces a wine that is medium-bodied. As with all Trimbach wines, no oak is used. It’s all about the soil and the grape (Terrior) not about manipulation in the cellars. As their sign states in their tasting room: “Say no to oak, let the fruit shine through.” TRIMBACH PINOT BLANC PELLEGRINO GIBELÉ ZIBIBBO Italy. What is this wine you may ask? Honestly a very good question. Zibibbo is the Sicilian name for the Muscat grape. I know, not something on your radar but certainly a fun wine to try. This medium bodied modestly dry white is loaded with beautiful fruit. Wonderful aromatics in the nose and just real fresh and smooth on the palate. It’s a wine that is so easy to drink, you can have it by itself but matches wonderfully with all seafood and white meat dishes. 12.99 NO LIMIT
