What is Yellow Book ?

The Yellow Book comprises the List of Company's * Printed Stationery * Forms * Placards

with notes on their use. It is authorised for use onboard all vessels fully managed by TranspetrolTM AS and it details the documentation, including electronic forms and technical publications required to be onboard vessels.The Company's Stationery / Forms / Placards are for compulsory use onboard except where indicated or instructed otherwise by the Company.

The holders of the Yellow Book are responsible for updating their copy as revisions are received from the Company and for ensuring that the book is readily available to department personnel. They shall ensure that the obsolete issues of documents are removed from the system.

A Designated Officer (DO) shall be appointed by the Master. The DO is responsible for official stationery onboard the ship. This includes the incorporation of new updated documents, and the removal/disposal of obsolete ones. He shall also incorporate updates received for common computer systems. The Master may appoint himself as the DO. However, the updating of individual computer systems shall be executed by the person responsible for it. Only electronic forms that isauthorised by the Company are to be used onboard

The company will arrange for electronic forms/applications to be installed onboard, and will instruct the master on their onboard implementation, use and control. Forms contained within such application may be used in lieu of their corresponding hard copies. Record keeping of associated forms, checklists, reports

,etc. within the electric application shall be used in lieu of the filing system.However, for forms/checklists which are required to be used on-site or where signature of the other party would be required, (e.g.Form D27, D41 etc) and permits the paper filing system shall be maintained. If approved by management centre, scanned copies Complete with hand-written date and signature can be saved in a PC’s hard-disk. Use of e-signatures is not allowed.

Vessels using the Company-supplied electronic system shall also carry one full set of blank paper forms that shall be used if the computer system is temporarily inoperable. vessels may be required to fill in cargo-related forms issued by their commercial operators/managers. Subject to the Company’s approval, these forms may be forwarded to the Company instead of the corresponding Transpetrol TM A/S form/s listed in the Yellow Book.

The master is responsible for monitoring that computer(s) supplied by the Company/owner is used for official business only.

All revisions will be authorised by the Company and the master will receive relevant hard copies/disks for this purpose. Alternatively, the Company may transmit such revisions electronically to him.

Depending of ship type, the Technical Library shall consist of the publications listed in the subchapters 4.1.3. The subscriber is Nautisk Forlag, and the publications shall be kept in active – with automatically renewal when new edition is available.

The Admiralty Publications are as Admiralty List of Radio Signals,Admiralty Sailing Directions (Pilots),Admiralty Tide Tables,Admiralty Tidal Stream Atlases,Admiralty Maritime Communications Series (NP289-NP291),Admiralty Manual of Tides (NP120) etc
