Message from:

Executive Director of Residential Education and Housing

Dear Staff:

One of the great things about college is that we are at all times encouraged to explore new directions and undertake fresh enterprises. That is precisely what you have done here over your last 2-4 years. For many of you, now is the time to take yet another direction --out into the "world". You may simultaneously feel excitement, fear, anxiety, or sadness by the idea of starting this next chapter. After all, you have had the time of your life here! But there is so much more you still must accomplish. So believe in yourself because I believe in each and every one of you. I believe you can shake up the world!

You will be dearly missed but I trust you are going to do great things. For those who are returning, my trust for you remains just as consistent. I look forward to your return and your next dance. Have a great summer!

The College of New JerseyResidential Education & Housing Staff2011-2012THANK YOU for ALWAYS making a difference!

The Starfish

An old man was walking down the beach just before dawn.  In the distance he saw a young man picking up stranded starfish and throwing them back into the sea.  As the old man approached the

young man, he asked; "Why do you spend so much energy doing what seems to be a waste of time?"  The young man explained that the stranded starfish would die if left in the morning sun.  "But there must be thousands of beaches and millions of starfish, exclaimed the old man.  "How can your efforts make any difference?"  The young man looked down at the small starfish in his

hand and as he threw it to safety in the sea, he said;

           "It makes a difference to this one!"-Author Unknown
