Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

My visit to the Oratory of St. Joseph with three of our parish

ladies was a spirit filled experience. It was like being in

heaven meeting our Patron face to face. I prayed for all our

parishioners. I brought all your prayers to our Patron Saint. I

met Fr. Jomon there who is interested to bring the relic of

our patron to our parish. Fr. Jomon has a team to conduct a

holy hour, presentation on St. Andre, anointing with St.

Joseph’s oil and a healing Mass which would need 2.30

hours. May our Patron help us to make it a vibrant parish.

With prayers,

Fr. Sahaya Paul Siluvai Sebastian

St Andre Bessette Parish Council Meeting July 10, 2019

Review and Update Calendar

Worship:

• New Mass schedule started last weekend: attendance for

5:00 at SHJ was 65, for 8:00 a.m. at SV 42 and 9:30 a.m. at SI

30, a total of 137 parishioners.

• Fr. Paul received a letter from Bishop approving the

schedule and has been advised by the Bishop to maintain

the new schedule as it is.

• Choir practice is at 5:00 on Thursday nights at SV.

• Fr. Paul is planning to offer Communion under both

species Christ starting this weekend.

Religious Education:

• Fr. Paul plans to have a committee for the Religious ED.

Program; helping to make decisions to decide on the time

of the Family Formation Program, recruit teachers, discuss

hospitality, a children’s Mass etc.…

• The program will start with kick off date of Sept 15th and

first class will be on October 6th and every first Sunday of

the month till May.

• The 8th, 9th and 10th graders will be making their

confirmation this year. It was reported that one of the

student’s mother would like to be confirmed also.

Social Action:

• SV Ladies Report: Pro-Life Rosary is schedule for July 11th

at 6:30 and August 8th at SV. Patriotic Rosary will be on

Sept 12th. On July 14 at 11:30 there will be an ice cream /

casserole dinner, cost will be $8.00 each.

• SHJ Ladies Report: Their annual community

service/clothing bag sale with additional flea market items

will be August 1st to 3rd at SHJ hall. The sale will run

latter on Thursday evening making it possible for people

to shop after work. There will be two drop off days, July

30th and 31st for folks to donate items for the sale. All

proceeds will go to “Right to Life”.

• Family Retreat: All expenses were covered for the retreat

with even money left over to go toward next year’s retreat.

Several positive comments were noted in the survey from

the people who attended the retreat. Fr. Paul discussed

having a Retreat Committee to help plan next year’s

retreat, i.e. format of the day, timeframe, food, Mass etc.…

His hope is that most of St. Andre Bessette Parishioners

will come to experience the Family Retreat Day next year.

Old Business:

• Action Plan Parish writing team report: Fr. Paul has made

a form to be mailed to all parishioners offering to make a

home visit and bless their home if they would like. Fr.

Paul hopes to start these visits soon which is a part of the

plan to create a more Vibrant Parish. With the

evangelizing aspect of the plan, it plans to bring 12

inactive families to the parish. Fr. Paul ordered and will

have suggestion boxes in each church to help with

communication in the parish. There will also be a website

through the Dioceses. The website will be named after St.

Andre Bessette Parish. The parishioners will be informed

when available.

New Business

• On July 2nd Fr. Paul was able to make a visit the Oratory

of St. Joseph. This is something he wanted to do before his

first Mass as the new Administrator of St. Andre Bessette

Parish.

• Fr. Naples received news from a Bro. Jean-Paul from the

Oratory about a relic being available for our parish. The

relic could be mail or presented by the Grand Reliquary

for special veneration and Consecration ceremony. Fr.

Paul will request the ceremony for either Sept 7th or 8th.

Fr. Paul would have this as the solo Mass/ceremony (about

2 1/2 hours long) with a potluck to follow for that

weekend.

• Besides a Religious ED. and the Family Retreat committee

Fr. Paul wants to know who the maintenance crews are for

each church and have them meeting as a committee. He

plans to write a guideline for the different ministries of the

Parish: Altar servers, Eucharistic ministers, Lectors,

Greeters, DRE., Religious Education Teachers, Ladies

Group etc.…

• Fr. Paul with the support of the parish council would like

to build up the Parish, to avoid blame and destructive

criticism. Feeling that forming committees will encourage

growth within the parish. Fr. Paul states, “There are three

churches but only one Parish” “I want to make it a

home”

• The new Mass schedule will be in the newspapers soon,

they have been notified.

• It was noted that it has not been announced before Mass

when there is going to be a second collection and what it is

for. Also, some of the information of who the Mass is

being offered for has not been updated or correct. Note

that the email id for the bulletin is
