Originally the village school, RYG has been a residential Outdoor Education Centre for the past 20 years.
The centre was run by Berkshire L.E.A up until 2004. It is now run privately, largely for Berkshire schools and youth groups.

The centre is in the village of Rhos-Y-Gwaliau, 1 mile outside of the town of Bala, in North Wales.
It is situated in stunning open countryside on the eastern side of the Snowdonia National Park.
There is easy access to scenic mountains, tranquil lakes, awe-inspiring coastlines and breath-taking rivers.

The overall aim of the Centre is to enrich the education of students and whilst all courses fulfil many national curriculum requirements, they have in their own right a positive life-long impact on the general development and education of all participants.

By involving young people in outdoor and adventurous activities, challenging learning situations can be used to develop qualities such as self-knowledge and self-esteem whilst creating an awareness of the environment and the needs of others.

The main building offers accommodation for 44 children in 2 large dorms, plus staff bedrooms. Plus another 20 children and 2 staff in the bungalow on site.
Currently the site is being developed and the building work will increase the accommodation to 60 children in the main building.
All facilities are modern and recently re-furbished.

Both school staff and staff at the centre are trained First Aiders.
If your child has a care plan and any special medical needs these can be managed and should not prevent children attending the trip.

Health & Safety prime concern when considering all activities.
Children are given clear safety briefings on all activities.
The school reserves the right to withdraw a child who may jeopardise the health and safety of pupils and staff on the trip.
All risks are managed and the programme is varied depending on the weather conditions and children’s needs.
Instructors are highly qualified and support and advise other facilities. Centre highly accredited and rated as excellent.

Please note all medication must be clearly labelled and prescribed by a doctor.
This means that we can only administer prescribed medicines including: calpol, neurofen, hayfever tablets, cough medicine, nose spray, eye drops, etc. If your child suffers from any complaint that requires medication, for example may suffer from headaches, please ensure it has been prescribed – including all ‘over the counter’ medicines (apart from travel sick pills).
If it has not been prescribed, staff will not be able to administer ANY medication during the school journey.

Other facilities include a classroom, dining room, students lounge, staff room, laundry, drying room, showers, games room and tuck shop.

The cost of the trip is £390
and includes travel, full
board, accommodation,
bedding and insurance.
We plan to collect this in
eight instalments of £48.75
each.
