Aims of the Trip

• Cultural awareness: to have a glimpse of life in France and see some of its traditions (bakery, market & snail farm)

• To be exposed to some of France’s history through the Town Trail

• To learn some new French vocabulary

• To speak some French we have learnt in class in an authentic environment

• To sample some French food

• To have lots of fun!

Passports

• All British children will travel on the Collective passport, therefore they do NOT require their passport on the day

• All foreign nationals will need to travel on their own passport on the day (please hand this in the week before the trip)

• Non EU nationals will need valid passport but no visa as travelling on visa waver scheme via British Council- UK visa must be valid and in date

Medical issues

• All relevant medication needs to be handed in the day before (latest) to the office in a clearly labeled bag/packet

• All allergies/medical conditions must be stated on the form

• We will have the school First Aid kits with trained first aiders on the trip

• Travel sickness: bags provided! Any medication to be provided with clear instructions-

(Please let us know if your child is a sufferer!)• EHIC cards: please ensure you have applied for this

which provides free state healthcare in France. The quickest way is to apply online. Your EHIC will normally arrive within seven days and will usually be valid for five years.

The organisation of the groups

• There will be 8 group leaders with 10 children divided into each group plus one additional member of staff attached to a group

• Staff : Madame Vicki, Miss Sutton-Fitzpatrick, MrMcIver, Mr Lufkin, Mrs Bansal, Miss Kingsbury, Rita, Demi, Sjoera

• Groups will be organised by the teaching staff- children will be able to put 3 names down with 1 chosen wherever possible for rooming and group activities.

• The group will stay together at all times, with no unsupervised time

• All children will have a pack with emergency contacts on the front.

Rooming at the Youth Hostel

• Boys rooms: either 2 or 5

• Girls rooms: either 3 or 5

• Rooming will be decided by the class teachers after a simple consultation process with class.
