I got to the office at 9am. I turned on my computer and read my emails. I then talked to some customers, Sara and Raziq. They wanted to go to Dubai. I booked tickets and a hotel for them. I had lunch at 12pm and answered some of my emails. After lunch, I talked to Mr Brown. He wanted to go to Singapore. We talked about fun things to do in Singapore. I left the office at 4.30pm and went home. I felt like I needed a holiday!

Page 2: Year 4 Unit 2 Week 2 2014 My diary SOW Brunei

Listening and Speaking (response)Remind the students about the features of diary writing, following Week 1.Draw a full stop, question mark and an exclamation mark on the board. Ask the students to identify/name each one. Display a list of sentences, with the punctuation missing on the board (examples of statement, exclamatory sentences and question sentences). Discuss and identify each type of sentences and then with the students help write/add in the correct punctuation mark at the end of the sentence. Practice reading the sentences with exaggerated meaning for the appropriate punctuation.Note for teachers – A possible focus for this week could be on the use of exclamation marks. However, it is useful to teach exclamation marks alongside other types of punctuation e.g. full stop and question mark. Modelled/Class dictated writing Display the dairy writing prompt ‘Khairul’s holiday’ and model how to write sentences and/or paragraphs about what Khairul did on Sunday. Try to use at least one example of an exclamatory sentence or phrase. (Teachers can choose their own subject if they do not want to use the writing prompt).or Model how to write your own diary by recounting the previous/part of the day. Try to use at least one example of an exclamatory sentence or phrase.
