PE and PE kit

Autumn 1st half term will involve developing skills, for example catching and throwing, and using these skills in games designed by the pupils and also gymnastics.

Children should have a white t-shirt, blue or black shorts, plimsolls for indoor PE and jogging bottoms for outdoor PE.

PE is on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Please ensure your child has their PE kit labelled with their name.

Earring to be removed at home on PE days for health and safety reasons staff are not to remove earrings.

Stars of the Week

Each week there is an awards assembly where two children from each class are chosen to receive a certificate for working exceptionally hard in class.

The children receive a personalised comment on their certificate from the Senior Leadership Team.

Class Lunches

This academic year we will be inviting you to come in and have lunch with your child on a set day.

A menu will be sent home for you to order a dinner if you would like one.

We will keep you updated when year 2 have their set date.

Coffee Morning

Don’t forget coffee morning on Monday 28th of September 9.15am – 10.15am in the Upper School hall in aid of Macmillan. This is also an opportunity for you to meet Mrs Bass.

Messages to teachers

Please inform us at the door in the morning if your child is being collected by someone else.

For hospital and dental appointments please inform the lower school office. A member of staff from the office will inform us.

If you wish to discuss your child’s progress and learning please make an appointment to see the class teacher after school.

Reading Record Book

Please ensure that Reading Records and reading books are in school every day. Please feel free to contact us through the Reading Record.

Reading Books

Children are allowed to change their books on a daily basis provided the reading record has been signed to show that they have read at home.

Children will have opportunities to read with the teacher during guided reading sessions throughout the week, this will be recorded in the reading record by the class teacher.

Children will be assessed regularly on their reading level and book level will be changed accordingly.

Homework

Homework will be set on a Friday and will be due the following Wednesday.

Each week this will include reading at home, learning spellings and maths.

Some homework will be activities and games that are completed on the computer.
