Today we will be revising Subtraction. We have previously learnt about‘split strategy’, ‘jump strategy’ and how to work out subtraction wordproblems.

Watch Miss Modesto’s video to help you with a range of subtraction strategies.

Play the ‘Subtraction Card Game’ using the template in yourbooklet to record your answers. ****You will need a pack ofplaying cards to play this game****

Remove all picture cards and 10’s from a pack of cards. Keepnumbers 1-9.

Draw 4 cards from the pack and order them from largest tosmallest. Write the numbers in the boxes (‘Card 1’ being thelargest and ‘Card 4’ being the smallest).

Eg. If I have drawn these four cards and arranged them in descending order (from largest tosmallest), my larger 2 digit number will become: 64 and my smaller 2 digit number will be: 32. Iwill then have to work out 64-32=?

Use a piece of scrap paper for your working out.
