1 Year 2 STEM masterclass On 25th January Mrs. Middleton had the pleasure of taking three year 2 pupils to St. Brendans for an amazing STEM masterclass put on by the Ogden Trust Science Partnership which was led by the outstanding maths teacher Emma Corcoran and the scientist Judith Green. Here, we met with pupils from other schools in the local area. We learnt incredible things such as Fibonacci sequences and Pascals triangle. The children were fascinated by the link between maths and science as we delved into a world of daisy pet- als, pine cones and ferns, finding out that Fibonacci sequences explain it all! Who knew that such an incredible scientific discovery could come out of a theoretical study of rabbits?! Well done to Camron, Grace and Olivia! Rotary Club competition Well done to Neha and Ethan (Year 5) and Sofia and George (Year 4) who took part in the annual Rotary Club science competition on 5th March. The children competed against seven other local schools, completing six challenges manned by members of the Corby Rotary Club who generously gave up their time to host the event. The challenges tested our scientific brains and included testing solutions to see whether they were acid or alkaline, making molecules and building circuits. Key Stage 1 quiz

Well done to the following children in Key Stage 1 who won the science quiz:

Year 1: Lexii-Mae and Molly

Year 2: Sienna

Here are their fantastic drawings of scientists!

Primary Science Fair 2019 All children are invited to take part in this year’s Primary Science Fair.

You choose a scientific question that you would like to investigate…

...could we live on Mars?

… how do you make static electricity?

… why do plants bend?

Do some research or an investigation and present your findings.

A KS1 and KS2 winner from each Ogden partnership school will win prizes and have their project exhibited in the library at Corby Cube. Mini prizes for all entrants!

Projects need to be handed in to Mrs. Heard by Thursday 25th April to be considered for judging.
