Year 11 IT-Timber

Year 11 Timber students finished off their preliminary

course with making a side table and associated

portfolio. All students learnt many skills which will help

in their Major project in the final year of study. Well

done.

Principal’s Report

This term has seen the return of some of the regular events that we have been

unable to hold due to COVID -19. Excursions for sporting gala days have taken

place in basketball and rugby league and we have also been able to schedule

a number of cricket games in between the rain. Students have enjoyed these

changes in routine and all have been excellent ambassadors for our school and

community.

The HSC has finished for this year and there has been a steady stream of Year

12 students visiting my office to finally sign out of school. They now have only

their formal on November 20 to complete their secondary schooling. This year

it has been moved to Hermitage Hill where we are able to meet the restrictions

posed by the pandemic to allow the students and their parents and carers to

dress up and celebrate this moment in time.

As the warm weather rolls around again I would ask that you ensure that all

students bring their own water bottles to school as we are unable to use the

bubblers due to the COVID-19 restrictions. We do have water available to refill

their bottles during the day in the front office.

All students have now completed their annual examinations and staff are

completing reports in earnest.

Over the next 5 weeks however, school will be operating as normal and

teachers will be working hard to continue building the knowledge and skills of

all students. I can’t emphasise too much the impact that missing a day of

school has on the learning progression of a student. Please ensure that you

send your children every day.

The difficulties associated with running a large event under COVID-19

restrictions will have implications for our Presentation Evening. There is every

likelihood that it will not be in its usual format but in all likelihood, it will be

done virtually. I will keep you informed of how this might look as we complete

planning.

Our students had the opportunity to complete their Construction Induction Training. This is an essential part of training if you are to set foot on any construction site for work purposes.

The boys thoroughly enjoyed it and took a lot out of the day.

Thanks to Robert Hughes from Orange for delivering the course.

RUGBY LEAGUE GALA DAYS! On the Tuesday 3rd & Wednesday 4th of November the Wellington High School students competed in Rugby League Gala days up in Dubbo. The junior boys competed on Tuesday. The junior boys played and competed against teams with notable size difference and advantage. Our junior boys represented their school, family and community gallantly coming away with two wins and a very close loss in their semi against Mudgee High School. On Wednesday the senior boys made the trip to Dubbo to compete in their Gala day and also came up against teams with size to their advantage. The senior boys did well to compete against the teams they played, with many of our players 2-3 years younger than some of their opponents. The first game was won and the following 2 were tight matches with another win and a close loss to finish third for the day. Justin Walker shone on the day and was approached by a talent scout to try out for Representative Footy. Congratulations to Justin and all the other boys who participated and represented their school, community and family in an outstanding manner.
