February 14th 2020 was a special day for the NPT Seren group. On a day to celebrate love, we celebrated by helping many of our year 11 pupils prepare for their summer GCSE exams. The Aim High day was focused on making the last few months of revision effec- tive. Students were able to access workshops in English, Math's and Science. They were also given advice and help by our current Seren Am- bassador students who were facing the same challenges last year. At the end of the event each student left with a revision first aid kit to help them with their preparation for the sum- mer. This event marks the end of the activities set up for year 11, as they now prepare for their final exams. From all in the Seren network we want to wish each of our year 11 students the best of luck in the exams this summer. We look forward to welcoming many of you to the Seren Academy next year. Year 11 ‘Aim High’ Day Volume 1, Issue 1 Spring Term 2020 Year 9 MIT Ambassador Evening On Wednesday 22nd January the year 9 Seren Foundation students were given a unique opportunity. During January, ambassadors from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology visited Wales for 3 weeks to inspire students with a love of STEM. Students were given the chance to attend super curricular Science and Math's workshops in Ysgol Bro Dur. These included experiments to extract DNA, predicting the speed of a Tsunami, as well as the History if the Universe in an hour and some Boolean Algebra! During this time they had the opportunity to attend at least one workshop by one of the MIT ambassadors.
