English Language Unit 3: Spoken Language controlled assessment worth 20% Part 1: Spoken Language Study Part 2: Writing for the Spoken Voice Students will be developing skills in analysing the spoken language that we hear and use in a range of contexts. They will also employ their creative skills to write in a genre which requires them to recreate the patterns of spoken language, such as a script or a podcast. The first assessment will take place in the week commencing 1st December (10A and 10B) and the second will be in the week commencing 15th December (10A) and 14th January (10B). Homework The weekend before each assessment, students should ensure they have effective planning sheets to guide them in the assessment. A good habit for students to adopt is to memorise the specific terminology they will require. One way they might do this is by highlighting relevant words in their notebooks and turning them into mind maps. Supporting homework will be set as the need arises.
There are study guides available on https://www.cgpbooks.co.uk/ which can support
the students’ learning in spoken language.
