  • Green Growth ArenaGoals:1. A networking and knowledge sharing platform is established2. The capacity of authorities, municipalities, institutions, NGOs and businesses in NW Russia is strengthened, and cross-border and cross sectoral partnerships are developed 3. The ideas, terminology, tools and platforms are identified and developed. 4. Pilot models to accelerate green growth are introduced and their implementation is started in NW Russia based on the Nordic green growth values

  • Green Growth ArenaPilot models:Sub-project 1: Materials are generated for development of at least one local green growth strategy, feasibility studies are encouraged Sub-project 2: at least one pilot Greenway / Green Route model for sustainable eco-tourism and green development of territories is developed and started to be implemented. Sub-project 3: at least one pilot model of a sustainable business hub with focus on cleantech is developed and steps towards its implementation are taken. Cleantech cluster initiatives can be proposed as a pilot for participating NW Russian regions can be proposed.     *The formal co-operation between the Nordic countries is amongst the oldest and most extensive regional co-operation in the world. The political co-operation is built on common values and a willingness to achieve results that contribute to a dynamic development and increase Nordic competencies and competiveness. 5 countries and 3 autonomous territories have different relationships to international unions. Denmark, Iceland and Norway are members of NATO.

    Denmark, Finland and Sweden are members of the EU.

    Norway and Iceland are members of the EEA.

    Finland is the only Nordic country which has adopted the common European currency, the Euro.

    GDP: the Nordic region is among ten leading economies of the world.

    All the countries are part of the Nordic Council (since 1952) and the Nordic Council of Ministers (since 1971).**

    Focus of the Norwegian Presidency Programme this year: work & sustainable welfare

    How welfare state is functioning in the North of Europe and how public sector could be more efficient in a current economic situation Other priorities: green growth, knowledge & innovations and Nordic cultural affinity

    Cooperation with North-West Russia is one of the priority for the Nordic Council of Ministers since 1995
