Yamaha’s Strategy in the Stagnant Piano Industry
YAMAHA’s Piano History At first Nippon Gakki (‘Japan musical
instruments’) started to working with musical instruments . Nippon Gakki changed to YAMAHA Corporation in 1987.
YAMAHA start manufactured their piano’s in 1900. It’s a well known industry in America , Japan , Europe from the beginning .
They offer several types of pianos to the customers, Example: Morgan tune ,Tune Cabinet , Grand piano ,Baby Grand piano , EX 42, GX 1,A-55,Organ,Nihikawoa Organ, and many more.
YAMAHA got lot’s of awards for their pianos.
1980’s Situation of Piano IndustryIn 1980 this piano user’s declines 10%
because user’s felt that piano’s were old fashion that’s why their interest in piano got reduced .
They felt no use of piano treat it as furniture .
As no technology is included the user’s got bore with it.
As pianos are too big for students to carry anywhere so students felt .
Situation after few years1.After 15 years YAMAHA introduced
various types of pianos to the piano users.
2.They added design , variety, styles and finishes.
3.They added recording system in pianos.4.They offered digital disk to learn piano
for the owner.5.They organized global music program
for students and teachers.

Negative Site:According to 1980’s situation these are the negative sites but after
few years they reduced their negative sites ,Now they are the market leader . So the negative sites are:
1.No use of developed and advanced technology in Piano.2. The size of piano is too big.3. It’s very expensive.4.Not attractive.5. Piano’s variation is not enough for capture the target market area.
RecommendationAs now piano industry is in declining position so YAMAHA
Piano industry improve their products and strategies through the survey of customers demand. Demands are:
1.Product’s have to be attractive and had a great look.2.It’s have to be advanced and developed.3.It’s have to be reasonable .4.Capture the target market.5.Size of the piano’s also have to be small from other piano
industries that users can carry Piano anywhere they wants to.6.Make new strategy and review it. YAMAHA piano industry fulfill all the requirements of
customers and they adapt new strategy for being successful.
