Hi Everyone

Each day I have a walk through the classrooms and I see students engaged and teachers and education

assistants committed to their teaching and desire for all students to succeed in their educational, social

and emotional development.

What we do every day Consistently expect appropriate student behaviour that supports a safe and caring environment. Encourage positive, respectful relationships between staff, students and families. Implement strategies to promote academic achievement and address issues such as learning extension programmes and learning support programmes. Structure opportunities for all the students to be Successful and celebrated at school. Spelling 2021 As part of our strategic direction this year, the students have been assessed and placed in spelling groups that reflect their level of ability rather than year level. This is a response to our analysis of the school spelling data and our implementation of EDI (Explicit Direct Instruction). Some students may be required to transit to another learning area for their spelling group. This plan enables us to differentiate the curriculum to support and extend student learning.

Welcome to a new year of working and growing together. It

has been great to see our returning students and welcome

our new families to Yale Primary School. The staff and stu-

dents have settled in well and I look forward to working with

you all for a fabulous year of learning.

Embedded in our core beliefs:

Practised and implemented data

driven, research based practices that are in

line with current educational pedagogy

The Yale PS behaviour model that is

continually building a climate and culture of inclu-

sivity by expecting and modelling respectful and

responsible behaviour.

The promotion and celebration of

academic achievement, school success and staff

and student well-being

The unrelenting focus that

End of year concert 2020

Thank you to our students, staff and families for a great night bringing our

Yale community together.

I would like to make a special note of thanks to

Steve, a father of one of our students, who generously donated 40

harmonicas and 6 ukuleles from Classic Sounds, to the school

music program.

The vendors of the ice-cream truck, Unicone, who gave the school a

donation on the evening.

As always, our P&C worked hard to ensure our Christmas stall was a

great success by raising over $2000

Behaviour tracking

At Yale we celebrate positive student behaviour using in class rewards, office visit positive behaviour tokens

and whole school reward events. Along with our positive behaviour charts and PBS ‘bee’ tokens, we have also

introduced a classroom behaviour recording chart. Clear and visible behaviour expectations assist

All students have been explicitly taught classroom and school behaviour expectations and how the chart can guide them Towards improving behavior Kind regards,

Caroline Churchill
