Your 2013 Welcome to the United Nations! What could be a better message of hope and inspiration than the fact that youngpeople are acknowledged by the UN as full partners in designing, implementing, andevaluating the policies and programmes affecting their lives? I was once sitting in thesame setting as you, not sure if I could really influence policies. The Secretary-Generaland the UN send a clear message with my appointment that all youth can contributeand nothing for youth should be done without youth involvement. AhmadAlhindawi, Secretary Generals Special Envoy for Youth, UN, Jan 2013"Participation in public decision-making is usually limited to exercising the right tovote. Your participation in the Youth Assembly indicates otherwise. Your presence hereat the UN indicates that you have taken an interest in participating in some way inmaking the world we share a better place for all."We hope you will be inspired by the example of Ahmad Alhindawi who just a shorttime ago was participating in this Assembly and wondering whether he would ever havean opportunity to influence politics.
