YEAR OF GRACE - STARTING AFRESH FROM CHRIST IF WE ALL DO THIS, CHRIST WILL SHAPE OUR MINDS AND HEARTS SO THAT WE CAN RECOGNIZE HIM AND MEET HIM IN OTHERS AND SERVE HIM IN THEM- ARCHBISHOP TIMOTHY COSTELLOE Let’s continue exploring what a “Year of Faith” means to us. For a Christian, isn’t every year a “Year of Faith?” Of course! Pope Benedict XVI said we should look at faith as a "lifelong companion that makes it possible to perceive, ever anew, the marvels that God works for us. Intent on gathering the signs of the times in the present of history, faith commits every one of us to become a living sign of the presence of the Risen Lord in the world." It is not that the Holy Father is calling us to do something new; rather he is calling us to live our faith better. In a sense, the Holy Father is inviting Catholics to take their faith and their daily encounters with Christ to another level - to deepen and develop it. Baptism and Confirmation set us on the path but it's a long journey with downs as well as ups, doubts and challenges as well as revelation and joy. Christ is our companion on this journey and this is a 12- month opportunity to actively come closer to him. So do you have any more practical tips for me? Well, Advent is coming up fast. If you want to begin with small steps, why not buy a “little blue book” of Advent reflections, or any of the other daily Advent reflection booklets on sale at the piety stall or the parish centre. A couple of minutes spent reading and reflecting on the Word each morn- ing could make a big difference to your day and help you to begin a habit of putting aside a little regular time for Jesus every day. Or, you could keep the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church by your bed and read a small extract each morning, so that it is in your mind during the day (paperback editions are now available for only $4.00.) Advent is also a good time to consider some “good works”. If you haven’t done it before, maybe you could deliver some of our Christmas invitations around your neighbourhood, or donate some small gifts to one of the many charities collecting at this time. Dear Parishioners, Thank you to those parishioners who attended the Annual Community Meeting on Monday evening. It was a good meeting and it is encouraging to know that the people are content with the way things are being run in the parish there were no major complaints or issues raised. I would also like to thank Fran Italiano, principal of the school, for taking part in the evening and sharing with us her appreciation of the relationship between school and parish and her obvious pleasure in the successful redevelopment of the school. As there were no nominations received for the vacant positions on the Parish Pastoral Council, the past Council will meet in December to decide how the parish should go forward into the future in terms of making decisions on behalf of our community. Lastly, I sincerely thank the outgoing PPC members; Margaret Ireland, Eric Lindbloom, Michael Mok, Tristan Kolay and Dr. John Joseph, for their time and commitment to the parish. Fr. Sunny PRAYING WITH ST JOHN OF THE CROSS Sunday 16th December 7.30pm-8.30pm , Infant Jesus Church John was a man who experienced powerfully the intimate love of God. YEAR OF GRACE - STARTING AFRESH FROM CHRIST

“IF WE ALL DO THIS, CHRIST WILL SHAPE OUR MINDS AND HEARTS SO THAT WE CAN RECOGNIZE HIM AND MEET HIM IN OTHERS AND SERVE HIM IN THEM” - ARCHBISHOP TIMOTHY COSTELLOE

Let’s continue exploring what a “Year of Faith” means to us.

For a Christian, isn’t every year a “Year of Faith?” Of course! Pope Benedict XVI said we should look at faith

as a "lifelong companion that makes it possible to perceive, ever anew, the marvels that God works for us. Christ is our companion on this journey and this is a 12-month opportunity to actively come closer to him.
