They first lived in New York City, but "Oh boy, it was cold," Lou says. So John suggested they check out the south and specifically Beaufort, where he had trained as a Marine. the Lowcountry their home. Lou began teaching water aerobics and high intensity fitness landclasses at MCCS fitness center on Parris Island and the air station. In 2016 Lou made the changeto the Y teaching water aerobics and assisting in the Aquatics office as Aquatics coordinator. She has developed quite a following among her Y member-students and no doubt you have seen orwill see her fans wearing "We Survived Lou. That's What We Do!' shirts around the Y. Everyoneloves Lou's enthusiasm and zest for teaching a fun water aerobics class. In August, she wasselected as Aquatics Director and continues to teach classes as well as manage the pools, all groupwater-classes, swim lessons, swim team and anything to do with aquatics here at the Y. Lou says her goal is to fulfill the Y's mission by encouraging all to learn to swim, be safe aroundthe water, and find enjoyment through our programs and classes.
