From Nicky xx The NIT QUEEN !!!! Parents have request a repeat of this recipe for getting rid of and preventing NITS that Nicky heard on Shannon Lush’s radio show.... It was made very clear that there is no need to strip and wash bedding etc., as the NITs don't last long away from human hair. Hope this helps, BUT what most helps is if ALL parents attend to NITS and therefore reduce the contamination likelihood - but in this day and age of being politically correct - I don't think we can put that in the

newsletter without rebuff... (but we have!!)

REMOVING:

Orange juice (pure / unsweetened) - strain

Pour through hair Use a lice comb to comb through (although I use a dog grooming comb – much more sturdier for the girls thick

hair) Once every 4 days x 3 times

PREVENTION:

1 tsp tea tree oil in bath each day 1 tsp in 1 litre of water – spray bottle

before school. Also – spray hat beforehand

Hello to everyone!

As the term and year draws to a close,

I hope that each is well what with the busyness that this time of year brings.. On Friday, we once again had a wonderful Assembly, sharing the activities of our children with a great Power-Point presentation of the Canberra excursion, followed by a tremendous poem written by John

and beautifully presented by the whole Primary Class, and with further excellent poem and speech presentations, as well as awards acknowledging children’s progress!

The P&C meeting that followed Assembly covered many topics – please see the Minutes attached. If anyone has any thoughts, comments or questions that they would like to put to me on behalf of the P&C,

please don’t hesitate to contact me (Tel.: 4473 7840). As we move into our last week of the year, we look forward to another special Presentation Night,

particularly thinking of our Year 6 students in their last week of Primary School! The last day of term is set to be a fun day! Lunch will be provided by the P&C.

Looking forward to meeting together, best wishes for the week ahead,

from Nadine , P&C President

Our school has recently been sent information regarding a School Chaplaincy Program. A grant of $20,000 is able to be applied for from the Federal Government to support the employment of a suitably qualified person to perform the duties of a School Chaplain for 2 days each week (such a grant would need to be ‘topped up’ by the school or P&C as the amount does not fully cover wages). The role of a School Chaplain is to ‘support school students and the wider community in a range of ways, such as helping school counsellors and staff in offering welfare services and support in cases of bereavement, family breakdown or other crisis and loss situations; providing guidance on values and ethical matters; assisting students in exploring their spirituality’ (from the School Chaplain Code of Conduct) Such a decision to apply for a School Chaplain rests not with the Principal, but the community. At last week’s P&C meeting, this idea was raised and a range of views were expressed. I would be interested in your input if you have an opinion on this matter. Please complete the questionnaire and return to school by next Tuesday, December. 13th.

I would like* / would not like* our school to apply for a School Chaplaincy grant.

* Please circle appropriate answer.

Items from previous meeting:

Re: seatbelts in buses – Jo followed up a potential

Grant from the Federal Government - $25,000

specifically to put seatbelts into buses. While Les

from Symons Bus Service is happy for this to go

ahead, permission must first be sought from the

NSW Transport Ministry. Jo will pursue this, and

work with Les on the Grant application if

permission given to go ahead.

Re: “Special lunch day” – many thanks to Bronwen

for the great organization with her helpers of the

SLD! The children (and parents!) are enjoying the

treat of it! Bronwen suggested that for parents who

help or provide a dessert, their child will receive the

lunch order at no cost. Surplus profit will be used at

P&C’s discretion to provide a free SLD. Bronwen

will be reviewing ideas for next year.

Re: Volleyball court – John and Tuck will be

getting quotes for concreting the surface and

potential fencing.
